Buffalo received Cooper and a 2025 6th round pick, while the Browns received a 2025 3rd round pick and a 2026 7th rounder.
Just how big of a deal is this?!
With the Browns, Cooper was seeing 46.9% of the team’s air yards but was only managing to convert nearly 36% of them. Despite seeing a weighted opportunity rating of 0.769 on the back of nearly 9 targets per game, he was averaging only 10.2 fantasy points per game.
For further context, Cooper’s usage was worth 15 fp/g (-4.8 fantasy points over expectation per game). His effectiveness has been putrid.
Amari Cooper leads the NFL with 473 air yards on incomplete targets this season. Cooper accounted for the 5th-highest share of team air yards in Weeks 1-6 (46.9%).

Josh Allen knows how to use star wide receivers, and this rendition of the Bills has, thus far, been uninspiring to be polite.
From 2020 to 2023, with Allen, Stefon Diggs averaged 166 targets, 115 receptions, 1,384 yards, and 10 TDs. That was good for an average of 311 PPR fantasy points per game across 66 games. In other words, Allen peppers his WR1.

While Cooper, who is no spring chicken anymore by NFL standards, is not quite the same explosive, elite playmaker he once was, he still has more than enough juice to cook opposing secondaries and light up a stat sheet.
With Dalton Kincaid leading the Bills in targets with 31 and no other WR having more than 21 targets across the Bills’ six games, Cooper is in line for a heaping slice of delicious aerial pie immediately.
A delicious fantasy marriage could be underway. Cooper’s crisp route running and savvy play-making chops make him drip in fantasy football WR1 upside for the rest of the season.
