Tommy Tremble 2021 Fantasy Outlook Gets a Big Boost After Dan Arnold’s Departure

Tommy Tremble now has an opportunity to solidify himself as the Panthers' top tight end.

Carolina Panthers’ third-round rookie tight end Tommy Tremble should see an increase in usage following a Panthers trade that shipped former starting tight end Dan Arnold to the Jaguars for 2020 first-round cornerback CJ Henderson. With Ian Thomas being the only tight end competing for snaps it looks like Tremble could become a viable fantasy football stash for later in the season.

The rookie tight end has been able to produce efficiently, posting a 30-yard reception and a seven-yard rushing touchdown last Thursday against the Texans. This is all while only seeing 21.8 percent of snaps through three games.

Sam Darnold has improved as a passer since arriving in Carolina and with the loss of Arnold, who saw 11 targets through three games, may look for Tremble more throughout the coming weeks.

Tremble was a tremendous blocker at Notre Dame, which is one of the reasons the Panthers took a chance on the rookie. At 6-foot-4, 242 pounds, Tremble has the ideal size and speed at the position — running a 4.65 at his Notre Dame pro day.

“He’s versatile. I don’t know when was the last time a tight end was ever handed the ball around here. It sure wasn’t me,” said Panther legend Greg Olsen, “If Tremble can continue to carve out a role, especially in the passing game, I think he is capable.”

With the talent there for Tremble, his usage and opportunity remain up in the air. Positives for Tremble are the target regression for Robby Anderson this season and Christian McCaffery dealing with a hamstring injury.

If Tremble can see the field over the coming weeks he has a real chance to be a high-end TE2, Tremble ranks 28 on The Wolf’s Rest of Season Fantasy Rankings. Tremble is only rostered in .8 percent of leagues, so take a chance on him as a deep stash for the rest of the 2021 season.
