2019 Daily Fantasy: DraftKings NFL Week 8 Picks and Sleepers

Let's break the bank in Week 8.

The Week 7 bounce back was much needed as we were able to pin point some great value plays while stuffing our lineups with heavy hitting RBs. We’re ready to tackle another slate here in Week 8 that is unfortunately taking a lot of talented teams off of the main slate. Regardless, we’re here to give you the best plays of the week to keep making you that money.

Quarterbacks:

  • Deshaun Watson ($7,100)
    • Want to spend up at QB? Watson is your guy. He’s averaging 26.1 DK points per game and has a home contest with the awful Raiders defense recently gashed by Aaron Rodgers. He’ll be able to air it out on this depleted secondary, and on top of that, add rushing ability which raises his ceiling considerably.
  • Matthew Stafford ($6,100)
    • He dueled with Cousins last week in a high scoring affair which jacked his price up $900. Averaging 21.6 DK points per game, a matchup with the Giants at home is advantageous for Stafford. The injury of Kerryon Johnson could mean the offense will look to lean on Stafford and the passing game more moving forward.
  • Ryan Tannehill ($5,100)
    • Looking to spend down at QB this week, why not look to Tannehill? His first game this year resulted in 23.18 DK points and he’ll look to continue the solid performances at home against the Bucs. Tampa Bay is one of the most difficult teams to run on, forcing Tennessee’s hand into throwing the ball more in Week 8.

Running Backs:

  • Leonard Fournette ($7,800)
    • Chase the volume, and nobody is getting more volume in the NFL (other than CMC) than Leonard Fournette. 20+ carries in four straight games, 100+ yards in three of four while adding in about four catches per game. The only thing missing has been the touchdowns, where positive regression should be coming. Home favorite over the Jets sets up a good game script narrative.
  • Todd Gurley ($7,400)
    • A risky play here based on his health and usage, but the opponent and opportunity is too much to pass up here at home against the Bengals. The worst team against the run, Gurley and the Rams offense should be down at the goal line often where Gurley can capitalize and punch in easy scores. Gurley has yet to eclipse 100 rushing yards in a game, but this is his best chance at doing so this week.
  • Latavius Murray ($5,800)
    • Last week without Alvin Kamara, Murray went off. He recorded 119 yards and two scores on a workhorse-esque 27 carries, while adding 5 catches for 31 yards. Kamara still hasn’t practiced as of writing this article, so Murray should see the backfield all to himself. I love his value at this price in a juicy matchup against the Cardinals.
  • Josh Jacobs ($5,800)
    • Another 20+ carry and 100+ yard performance for Josh Jacobs who is the unquestioned bell-cow in Oakland. He’s still pretty cheap for a guy getting this much volume and offers great upside if you’re looking for a value RB.
  • Ty Johnson ($4,900)
    • He’s the replacement for Kerryon Johnson after his knee injury and is likely to be a popular play this week — especially as a home favorite over a weak Giants team. Johnson is a guy who also catches passes out of the backfield, and was someone the team wanted to integrate into the offense more before Kerryon went down.

Wide Receivers:

  •  DeAndre Hopkins ($8,100)
    • Likely the best stack on this slate with Watson, Hopkins finally showed up last week with a 9-106-1 stat line. This looks like a true Nuk explosion game here, as nobody in the Raiders secondary should be capable of slowing him down.
  • Tyler Lockett ($7,000)
    • We’re all aware of how bad the Falcons defense has been this year. Wilson and the passing game should feast in this contest, meaning his #1 guy in Lockett is primed for a big game. He’s been averaging 16.8 DK points per game, but this has the looks of a 20+ pt performance.
  • Kenny Golladay ($6,400)
    • Last week it was the Marvin Jones show with a 10-93-4 stat line, which is just absurd. Golladay had 1-21-0 and they say water always finds its level, so we can expect Jones to regress and Golladay to progress (ya, no shit, Jimbo). Golladay is clearly the most talented WR and should take advantage of this poor Giants defense.
  • John Brown ($5,900)
    • Smokey found the end zone again last week, and I really like Brown’s odds of scoring again versus this terrible Eagles secondary. Brown has been Buffalo’s best and most consistent pass catcher and should exceed his 16 DK ppg average.
  • Cortland Sutton ($5,300)
    • With Emmanuel Sanders heading to San Fran, this opens up even more opportunities for Sutton — who’s been one of fantasy’s biggest surprises in 2019. He’s averaging 16.2 DK ppg and now we’re expecting increased usage in what should be a pass happy game script trying to keep pace with the Colts. Solid play here.
  • Corey Davis ($4,400)
    • The Wolf might fire me for including him in here. But, Corey Davis looks like a great play this week against Tampa Bay. He’s the guy I would stack with Tannehill if you go that route, as the two showed serious chemistry for a 6-80-1 stat line and perfect passing rating. We don’t use RBs against Tampa Bay, but we’ll certainly target them through the air.

Tight Ends:

  • Darren Waller ($5,900)
    • I am so mad at myself for taking Waller out of my list once he got hit with the ‘Q’ tag early last week. He showed up and dominated with a 7-126-2 line against the Packers, and is one of the lone producing pass catchers for Oakland’s offense. They should be in a dog fight with the Texans this week, leading to a pass heavy attack.
  • Jared Cook ($4,000)
    • The TE flowchart kinda worked last week, but it just wasn’t the right tight end for the Giants. This week, it’s Cook for the Saints against the Cardinals, and Cook has scored in back-to-back games. Good things come in threes, and the stars are aligning for Cook this week. Unless Josh Hill comes in to vulture…..

Defense

  • New England Patriots ($4,300)
    • This defense is just insane. Averaging 21.3 DK ppg, if you had a RB averaging that much at this price you’d lock them in your lineup every week. Makes sense to want to play New England against Baker and the Browns who have been a turnover machine in 2019.
  • Indianapolis Colts ($2,900)
    • If I don’t want to play the Patriots this week, it will probably be the Colts. A lot of this is based off watching Joe Flacco look absolutely atrocious last Thursday night, paired with the fact that their defense is actually pretty good. Flacco is a sack machine, and always has great odds for a pick/fumble six which is always what we’re looking for.
