2026 Fantasy Baseball Buy Low, Sell High (Week 10): Trade for Alec Burleson, Michael Busch; Sell Miguel Vargas, Jonathan Aranda

Welcome to our weekly 2026 Fantasy Baseball Buy Low, Sell High column. We will help you identify the top 2026 fantasy baseball trades to make in any given week. We’re going to outline three buy-lows and three sell-highs for Fantasy Baseball Week 10.

The key here is that we’ve carefully selected these recommendations to make sure that they’re reasonable. I’m not going to suggest that you buy low on a superstar who is off to a slow start, because it’s highly unlikely your leaguemate will accept an offer like that. The same goes for sell-highs: they won’t be obvious regression candidates. But if I do, I’ll be sure to have a reasonable trade offer for you to send.

With that in mind, find out why I’m buying low on Alec Burleson, Will Smith, and Michael Busch, while selling high on Miguel Vargas, Dillon Dingler, and Jonathan Aranda. Remember, buy lows *need* to come at discounts, while sell highs *must* get you more than you would have before the season.

WEEK 10 FANTASY BASEBALL BUY LOW TARGETS

Alec Burleson (1B, OF – STL)

Alec Burleson is currently slashing .287/.357/.455 with seven home runs and two stolen bases in 52 plate appearances. It’s not like he’s doing badly by any means, but his stat line doesn’t jump off the page.

That gives you a buying opportunity, since the best is yet to come.

Some first basemen are out of the lineup vs. lefties, but that’s not the case with Burleson. He’s an everyday player, so the volume will be there for you.

But more importantly, he’s a batting average asset with an elite strikeout rate (15.9 K%), establishing himself as one of the most underrated hitters in MLB (130 wRC+). His .385 xwOBA is a major increase from last year (.345 xwOBA), so we could see a power surge soon.

Will Smith (C – LAD)

Will Smith has a .248/.326/.366 slash line with five home runs in 175 plate appearances. While he’s not going to hit .296 like last year, since that was fueled by an outlier .345 BABIP, you’re going to get better production than this.

Smith still has an elite strikeout rate (16.0 K%), plus he’s barreling the ball at a high rate (13.3%). We just saw him homer on Tuesday.

This is a player with a strong track record who should provide 20-homer prop with a .250 batting average and strong counting stats. The hot streak is coming soon.

While he’s not going to be an elite catcher, you could swap someone like Dillon Dingler and another low-level pitcher for him right now.

Michael Busch (1B – CHC)

Michael Busch is slashing .231/.359/.390 with six home runs in 237 plate appearances. The sub-.400 slugging percentage is concerning, but he’s still walking a lot (15.2%) while limiting strikeouts (21.9%).

We’ve also seen Busch hit the ball hard, putting up a 13.1% barrel rate. He’s starting to heat up at the plate.

Remember, this is a hitter who slugged 34 home runs in 592 plate appearances last year. The power binge is coming soon.

You may be able to swipe him off your leaguemate before that happens, so put out some feeler offers this week.

WEEK 10 FANTASY BASEBALL SELL HIGH PLAYERS

Miguel Vargas (1B, 3B – CWS)

Miguel Vargas is in the middle of a breakout season, slashing .233/.361/.476 with 12 home runs and eight stolen bases in 230 plate appearances.

The plate discipline metrics look terrific, as highlighted by a 14.8% walk rate and a 16.5% strikeout rate. He’s also increased his barrel rate from 9.3% to 15.0%.

All signs point to a career year, but he may be at peak value right now. Remember, this is a hitter who was underwhelming for the first 1,000+ plate appearances of his career.

I agree that he’ll have value all year, but will he be this good? I’m a bit skeptical. I’d try to flip him for Alec Burleson and another asset, perhaps another pitcher. Burleson could be better than Vargas from here on out, but given their current production, you could get another piece in that deal.

Dillon Dingler (C – DET)

Dillon Dingler is slashing .227/.313/.455 with 10 home runs in 200 plate appearances.

He’s bumped up his walk rate from 4.9% to 9.0% while trimming his strikeout rate from 23.5% to 21.5%. Not to mention that he’s hitting the ball harder this year, including a 13.3% barrel rate (9.2% last season).

However, with the other more proven catchers who are off to much slower starts, I think it’s a good idea to see if you can flip Dingler for them.

I’d try to trade Dingler and another low-level pitcher for someone like Will Smith, who has a better track record and team context.

Jonathan Aranda (1B – TBR)

Jonathan Aranda is currently slashing .278/.376/.471 with nine home runs in 226 plate appearances.

He’s walking at a high rate (13.3%) while limiting his strikeouts (23.9%). The barrel rate looks good as well (10.8%).

There’s no question that Aranda can be rock-solid in batting average while hitting nearly 25 home runs. But I think we have an opportunity here to flip him for a struggling hitter with more power upside.

I’d try to trade Aranda for someone like Michael Busch, who looks like he’s on the cusp of a power binge.

Summary: Week 10 Fantasy Baseball Buy Low Sell High

Although the season is young, savvy 2026 Fantasy Baseball managers are scouring the waiver wire and plotting the right trade strings to pull. Making the right 2026 Fantasy Baseball Buy Lows and Sell Highs this early can be a massive advantage. As such, buying low on Alex Burleson, Will Smith, and Michael Busch could land you some undervalued production before they heat up and hit their true ceilings. Meanwhile, Miguel Vargas, Dillon Dingler, and Jonathan Aranda could all be peaking and make strong sell highs.
