DraftKings NFL Conference Championship Picks: Stack the Bengals vs Chiefs Shootout

There should be another shootout in Kansas City.

With a small slate of two games this week, roster construction is going to be a bit difficult with little tweaks here and there to separate from other lineups. The eye test says to target the Bengals vs Chiefs game as that projects to be the highest-scoring matchup on the slate.

QUARTERBACKS

Patrick Mahomes embraces 'Grim Reaper' advice, saves Chiefs' season

Patrick Mahomes $7,400

  • While Joe Burrow seems to be the runaway play this week at the QB spot, I sneaky love spending up on Patrick Mahomes instead. The Chiefs offer little to no threat running the ball, and Mahomes has even been a sneaky good runner of his own. This guy turns it up multiple notches in the postseason as we’ve seen countless times, and he’d be a somewhat contrarian play that might give you the boost over most lineups that will have Burrow.

Others to consider: Joe Burrow $6,600

RUNNING BACKS

How is Cam Akers even playing? 3 factors that sped up his recovery - Los Angeles Times

Elijah Mitchell $5,900

  • Chasing the volume here. No running back is guaranteed to get more touches than Eli Mitchell running as the lead back in Kyle Shanahan’s offense. The Niners passing game has all but evaporated and they’ll likely want to control the tempo here and establish their run game. Give me a guy getting 15-plus carries each week for a mid-RB price tag.

Cam Akers $5,000

  • Cam Akers’ stat line last game was pretty rough, averaging a measly 2.0 ypc on 24 touches and fumbling twice. Still, Sean McVay showed confidence (at least for now) with Akers and he’s a big play waiting to happen. Remember, this guy is coming fresh off a torn Achilles so if anything, he’s still rounding into form. With Darrell Henderson rendered useless and Sony Michel parked on the sideline, Akers can get it done both on the ground and as a receiver. After last week’s dud, he’s due for a better performance — we hope.

Others to Consider: Joe Mixon $6,800, Jerick McKinnon $5,100

WIDE RECEIVERS

Bengals' Ja'Marr Chase on ex-LSU coach Les Miles: 'He told me I couldn't play receiver' | Fox News

Cooper Kupp $8,800

  • As if you needed any more proof at just how dominant this guy is, Cooper Kupp went out there and roasted the Bucs secondary to the tune of 183 yards and a touchdown on nine receptions. The dude is an absolute menace and there’s simply no way he doesn’t come out and dominate yet again. Just three weeks ago, he racked up 118 yards and a score on seven receptions against this same 49ers’ secondary.

Ja’Marr Chase $6,700

  • Despite being fourth on the team in targets last week, Ja’Marr Chase racked up the yardage to turn in another productive day against the Titans. Fantasy managers will be quick to remember Chase’s league-winning performance against the Chiefs in Week 17 where he went for 11-266-3 on 12 targets. He’s simply too good to pass up, especially at this price. I’d have sworn he’d be mid $7k range.

Others to Consider: Odell Beckham Jr. $5,100, Byron Pringle $4,300

TIGHT ENDS

Tyler Higbee $3,700

  • Tyler Higbee continues to hover in cheap TE territory with his modest production. Firmly behind Kupp and Beckham on the target totem pole, Higbee still offers good value as the third option in the passing game. His price tag gives you the flexibility to spend up on studs at the WR position.

Others to Consider: Travis Kelce $6,500, George Kittle $5,000

D/ST

Kansas City Chiefs $3,000

  • You could really go in any direction here (except the Bengals), but after watching the Titans sack Burrow nine times last week, I lean the Chiefs. They’re a team that can get pressure on the QB and you’d imagine they end up playing with a lead meaning more sacks and potential turnovers.

Others to Consider: Los Angeles Rams $3,200, San Francisco 49ers $2,800
