NFL DFS: DraftKings Week 8 Sleepers, Value Plays Featuring Michael Carter, David Johnson

Fill out the end of your DraftKings lineup with our sleepers and value plays.

Hello folks, welcome to another addition to our DFS rotation where we look at the DraftKings Week 8 sleepers and value plays that can help take your lineups to the next level. Here, we take a look at some guys you can round out your roster with after spending up for the Derrick Henrys and the Davante Adamses of the slate.

Generally, I would consider value plays as QBs under $6k, RBs under $6k, WRs under $5k, and TEs under $4k.

QUARTERBACK

Mac Jones $5,200

The Patriots rookie eclipsed 20 fantasy points for the first time, with a 25 point performance against the Jets. The offense is starting to open up with Jones under center and now he’s facing a prolific offense in the Chargers. The thing with Jones this week, is he is priced incredibly low at only $5,200. With the over/under sitting at 49 points and the Patriots being five-point dogs, the game script sets up for New England to throw the ball early and often. Not to mention, it’s a Hunter Henry #revenge game.

RUNNING BACKS

Michael Carter $4,900

Another rookie making the article, Michael Carter is slowly separating himself from the rest of the Jets’ backfield. He’s playing the most snaps of all Jets RBs, and now he’s becoming a check down specialist for the struggling offense. Last week, Carter caught eight balls for 67 yards on nine targets. Zach Wilson was lost with a knee injury, and replacement Mike White filled in feeling most comfortable throwing check downs to Carter. White is expected to start once again, so look for Carter to catch a handful of passes, and possibly even run in a score if they make it to the goal line. He’s good for over 15 touches this week.

David Johnson $4,200

DJ finds himself here for the first time following the trade that sent Texans’ ‘bell cow’ RB Mark Ingram back to the Saints. Ingram had handled a significant share of the Texans’ carries this year, while Johnson had been more of the receiving back. Despite the presence of Phillip Lindsay and Rex Burkhead, Johnson should benefit the most from this change and become the Texans’ true RB1. An increased rushing total, paired with his already decent receiving work should push him into viable play territory with such a low price tag.

WIDE RECEIVERS

Laviska Shenault $4,700

The theme with the wide receivers this week is previous underperformance. Shenault is a guy who has seen a solid target share while being the team’s WR2 but the production just hasn’t matched up with the target share. Shenault is super talented, he just needs to get the ball in his hands to make some spectacular plays. This is a game Jacksonville can compete in against the Seahawks, meaning Shenault should get a minimum of seven looks this week.

Robby Anderson $4,700

There’s no receiver in the NFL who has gotten this level of usage with this little production. With 48 targets over his last four games, Anderson has turned that into 13 catches and a score. Water always finds its level, meaning the tide has to turn for Anderson sometime soon. Someone getting that much work can’t keep putting up disastrous numbers. Always a deep threat to break off a huge play, Anderson has a good matchup with the Falcons on deck.

TIGHT END

CJ Uzomah $3,700

Quite the risk/reward play here because CJ Uzomah hasn’t had high target numbers the last few weeks. What he does have is a knack for the end zone with five touchdowns over his last four games. If you’re going cheap at the tight end spot, you’re praying for a score, and this guy has as good of a chance to grab a touchdown as anyone else.
