Kirk Cousins, Stefon Diggs Rising in Fantasy Amidst Vikings Pass Game Renaissance

The squeaky (bitchy) wheel continues to get oiled up by Kirk Cousins.

After a very slow start to the season, the Vikings passing game has finally started to come around in recent weeks. A cupcake schedule deserves partial credit for their turnaround, but opponents aside, it seems that Minnesota’s expensive offensive core is coming around as we approach the midway point of the season. And with Adam Thielen leaving Sunday’s game early with a hamstring injury, Stefon Diggs was the star of the show alongside Kirk Cousins against the Lions. Diggs caught 7 of 8 targets for 142 yards in the 2nd-best showing he’s had so far this season, while Cousins topped 300 yards passing for the 3rd straight week, throwing for 337 with 4 TDs.

While the Vikings running game led by Dalvin Cook has been feasting all season long, the passing game was a bit of a late bloomer. It took Kirk Cousins 5 weeks to throw for 300 yards, but he’s now done it in 3 straight games, completing over 75% of his passes in that span and throwing 10 TDs to just 1 INT. And while Adam Thielen was the initial benefactor of Cousins’ resurgence, the last couple of games have belonged to Stefon Diggs, who’s now averaging 22 PPR points per game over the past 4 weeks. The injury Thielen sustained against Detroit has his status for Week 8 in question, which only makes Diggs more attractive in what should be another juicy matchup.

Cousins and Diggs owners should enjoy a few more productive weeks as the Vikings prepare for the Redskins in Week 8 and the Chiefs immediately after. From there, however, it gets a bit rockier, with matchups against the Cowboys, Broncos, and Seahawks with a bye week mixed in as well. While it may come to an abrupt end starting Week 10, the strong production from this pair should continue for a couple more weeks, so enjoy it while you can.
