Devin Singletary gets Major Fantasy Boost Following LeSean McCoy Release

We finally got some fantasy relief in the Bills' disaster committee when they released Shady McCoy.

The first major domino of “cut down day” occurred when the Bills released one major piece of their fantasy-disaster of a backfield in LeSean McCoy. Although we assumed McCoy would eventually be cut or traded at some point, it still came out of left field. This leaves old man Frank Gore, the pass-catching TJ Yeldon and the talented rookie, Devin Singletary, to compete for this backfield. Singletary’s electric preseason and his ability to play all three downs allowed McCoy to be expendable. He brings a different element to this offense and could be the perfect compliment to Josh Allen in the read option.

Although undersized (5-foot-7) and not elite athletically (4.66 40), Singletary rushed for 4,287 yards in three seasons for a 6.0 yards-per-carry average and 66 rushing touchdowns while at FAU.

“Some guys transition faster and some guys transition slower. That’s one of the decisions: who’s ready in that running back group to contribute right away? We just felt right now that Devin will be able to help us, along with the other guys we’re keeping,” Bills GM Brandon Beane said.

Even though everyone is running to grab Singletary, there still are some major question marks. We’ll most certainly get another annoying year from Gore, who gave Kenyan Drake owners/truthers a severe headache last season. He continues to play steady and solid football, and he’s proven to be someone who just won’t go away. Then there’s Yeldon, who’s caught 30-plus balls each season and 55 last season. He’ll be a big factor on third down.

In our most recent update, Singletary is up to our RB37, while Gore comes in at RB51 and Yeldon sneaks in at RB77.
