Evan Engram Set to be Giants Target Hog Following Golden Tate’s 4-Game Suspension

Who the hell else will Eli Manning throw the ball to?

The Giants continue to be an utter disaster and things only got worse last week when Corey Coleman tore his ACL, Sterling Shepard broke his thumb and Golden Tate was handed a four-game ban by the league for taking fertility treatments.

With Cody Latimer leading the receiver corps (lol) until Shepard returns, all eyes will be on tight end Evan Engram to pick up the slack. The Giants are currently limiting the oft-injured tight end’s workload (he sat out the preseason with a hamstring injury), but if the season started today, he would be a target hog of epic proportions — which is why he will be highly coveted after the ‘Big Three’ tight ends.

With Saquon Barkley and Shepard as the only other likely (and legit) NFL pass-catchers on the roster for the first four weeks, it will be Engram’s time to shine. Production on the field has never been the issue with Engram, though. It’s been his inability to stay healthy. In just two seasons, he’s suffered two concussions, a chest bruise, an MCL tear and a hamstring pull.

However, in those same two seasons, he’s been a fantasy force on the field, racking up 1,299 yards and nine touchdowns on 109 receptions. He finished as the TE13 in 2018 while playing only 11 games.

His numbers have been particularly dominant whenever Odell Beckham missed time. With Beckham, Engram has averaged under 9 FPs per game (143 total), with 3.45 rec, 37.5 yards, and .27 TDs per game (90 catches, 601 yard, 4 TD pace).  Without Beckham, Enram has averaged over 13 FPs per game (213 total), with 4.73 rec, 59.07 yard, and .4 paces (76 – 945 – 6 TDs). He leaps from the TE10 to TE5 in FPs per game. Beckham, of course, is now with Cleveland.

Consequently, Engram has settled in as our TE6, right behind Hunter Henry.
