Once again, we are back to see what the scientists in the lab feel is warranted hype around the fantasy community. Here at Roto Street Journal, we offer countless tools like trade value charts, rest-of-season rankings, sleepers, busts, etc., but navigating the field of your fantasy league stems from understanding the hype behind players. Here are four players rising hype that our scientists believe you can have confidence in moving forward.
Cedric Tillman

In the Week 8 Fantasy Football WR sleepers, Wolf stated that “If Tillman’s usage mimics Week 7, he could post an 8+ rec, 110+ yard, TD+ game in Week 8 vs. Baltimore.” Well here we are the day after Cedric Tillman just put up 7 receptions, 99 yards and two touchdowns. It’s not too bad of a called shot if you ask me. Cedrick Tillman is currently rostered in 24% of sleeper leagues, and you should expect that number to double after the next waiver period. In the two weeks following the Amari Cooper trade, Tillman has been the actual alpha of the Cleveland Browns Receiving Corps, averaging 10.5 targets, 7.5 receptions, 90 yards, and a touchdown. A bonus is that you get to watch Jameis Winston cook with the injury of thou-who-shalt-not-be-named.

The second-year wide receiver looks poised to keep a predominant role in Brown’s offense and a staring role in your weekly fantasy lineup with high flex/low-end WR2 upside. The scientists in the lab see the blend of new play calling, new quarterback, and second-year wide receiver as a perfect mix of upside to create a high credibility score. If you are in one of the 76% sleeper leagues where Tillman is on the waivers, it’s time to get rid of that FAAB and get this starter.
Jakobi Meyers

The Las Vegas Raiders receiving room looks slightly different than the last time Jakobi Meyers took the field. With the dismissal of Davante Adams, Meyers seems poised to be the go-to wide receiver target when Gardner Minshew isn’t peppering Brock Bowers. In Meyers’ first game back, he found himself as the top target for Minshew and finding the endzone on their first drive.

Although Meyers finished with an underwhelming line of six receptions for 52 yards, the scientists in the lab believe that his high usage and snap percentage will create the opportunity for him to find relevance in all formats that reward receptions. Look for Meyers to be a high-end flex for the rest of the season, and buy him now before the hype gets wild. Meyers is currently the WR43 on Wolfs Rest of Season Rankings.
Cade Otton

Happy belated tight ends day to you and whoever celebrates. Out of all the tight ends that found themselves relevant in week 8, the work of Cade Otton got the scientists most interested. After losing Mike Evans and Chris Godwin, Cade Otton has become a valid focal point of the Baker Mayfield-led Tampa Bay Buccaneers. Otton has seen 10 targets in back-to-back weeks and has put up 100 yards and 81 yards, respectively, including two touchdowns in his week 8 matchup.

With Godwin out long-term and Evans out until at least week 12, Otton is slotted to be a weekly top-6 TE and is a set-it-and-forget-it option at a position that is usually tough to predict. Although many were looking to Jalen McMillian to take a big step up, the scientists say to go with Cade Otton. CJay tried to warn you to pick Otton up last week, so if you were late, you only have yourself to blame.
Matthew Stafford

The Los Angeles Rams are back. After trying to keep his nose above water with wide receivers like Tutu Atwell, Tyler Johnson, and Jordan Whittington, Matthew Stafford now has Puka Nacua and Cooper Kupp back, which shows. Week 8, Stafford threw for four touchdowns, one more than the amount he had in weeks 1-7. With the addition of Nacua and Kupp, Stafford diversified his targets, finding nine different pass-catchers, and finished with 25 completions for 279 yards.

Stafford is currently rostered in 34% of Sleeper leagues, but our scientists think he could be a great option for the rest of the season for fantasy owners who have been streaming their quarterback position or see their team needing a quarterback with the Jordan Love injury.
