WEEK 7 WAIVER WIRE PICKUPS

START

  1. Kenyan Drake, RB Baltimore Ravens (4% rostered)
  2. Rondale Moore, WR Arizona Cardinals (46%)
  3. Alec Pierce, WR Indianapolis Colts (38%)
  4. Wan’Dale Robinson, WR New York Giants (8%)

When JK Dobbins remained on the sideline due to some “tightness” in his knee, journeyman Kenyan Drake responded with 10 carries for 119 yards and a touchdown. The Ravens have always been one of the heavier run offensives under Lamar Jackson, and Dobbins’ injury history has kept him off the field more often than not over the last few seasons. Drake could be looking at another quality week in Week 7 against the Browns.

The loss of Marquise Brown to his foot injury is devastating to the Cardinals’ offense. Luckily, they get DeAndre Hopkins back this week and Rondale Moore is going to see a nice bump in production for this offense. Moore had 10 targets last week catching six balls for 49 yards. He doesn’t stretch the field much, but he’s a talented playmaker when given the ball in space. He’s the locked-in WR2 in Arizona as long as his hamstrings can hold up.

Rookie Alec Pierce is climbing the target totem pole and is making big plays when it counts. His 32-yard touchdown catch to win the game was another example of the rapport that’s developing between him and Matt Ryan. With 22 targets and 12-plus fantasy points over his last three games, Pierce is a WR3 or Flex option in most 12-team leagues.

The end box score won’t set the fantasy world ablaze, but the 5-1 Giants might’ve finally found a playmaking receiver in rookie Wan’Dale Robinson. Kenny Golladay is dust, Kadarius Toney can’t get on the field, and Sterling Shepard is done for the year, which leaves Robinson as one of the few guys available. Overcoming a previous injury of his own, he finished with 37 yards and a score on three catches against the Ravens. To say Wan’Dale was an electric playmaker in college is a massive understatement. He’s the kind of player you get the ball to in space, and let him go to work. There’s serious potential for him to be Daniel Jones’ top perimeter weapon after starring in training camp.

STASH

  1. Rachaad White, RB Tampa Bay Buccaneers (34%)
  2. Robert Tonyan, TE Green Bay Packers (42%)
  3. Joshua Palmer, WR Los Angeles Chargers (26%)
  4. Robbie Anderson, WR Arizona Cardinals (13%)
  5. Deon Jackson, RB Indianapolis Colts (43%)
  6. D’Onta Foreman, RB Carolina Panthers (5%)
  7. Tyquan Thornton, WR New England Patriots (1%)
  8. Gus Edwards, RB Baltimore Ravens (16%)
  9. Chase Claypool, WR Pittsburgh Steelers (41%)
  10. Kyren Williams, RB Los Angeles Rams (8%)
  11. Daniel Bellinger, TE New York Giants (2%)
  12. Mike Gesicki, TE Miami Dolphins (24%)
  13. Tyler Allgeire, RB Atlanta Falcons (50%)
  14. Caleb Huntley, RB Atlanta Falcons (7%)
  15. Parris Campbell, WR Indianapolis Colts (2%)
  16. Latavius Murray, RB Denver Broncos (14%)

Rachaad White is a top handcuff to stash behind Leonard Fournette. It’s clear Tom Brady is fine checking down to his running backs, targeting Fournette and White 10 total times on Sunday, which bodes well for White’s future if anything were to happen to Fournette. His standalone value is sketchy, but White would be a stud in a lead role.

Tight end Robert Tonyan led the Packers in targets this past week with 12 in their loss to the Jets. While Mercedes Lewis eats a bit into Tonyan’s snap share, he’s hardly running any routes so all passing work has gone to Tonyan. With Randall Cobb likely out for a while, Tonyan should see a more significant target share moving forward.

Joshua Palmer was peppered on Monday night football. He saw 12 targets and caught nine of those for 57 yards while essentially filling in for Keenan Allen. LA is a pass-heavy offense and Palmer has had serious chemistry with Herbert. The more time Allen continues to miss, the more value Palmer will have in this offense.

Stuck in a defunct offense, Robbie Anderson had done next to nothing in fantasy. After causing mayhem on the sidelines, the Panthers shipped him to a desperate Arizona team to replace Hollywood Brown. Anderson has always been a big play guy and he’s someone who can stretch the field for Kyler Murray and maybe help open up Arizona’s offense.

Even having to leave the game due to a quad injury, Deon Jackson managed to rack up 24 fantasy points on the day as the Colts’ RB1. He had insane PPR value catching 10 passes out of the backfield while rushing 12 times for 42 yards and a score. He ran hard and looked the part, so don’t think Jackson will fade away into the abyss moving forward. At the very least he could play the Nyheim Hines role as receiving specialist out of the backfield with Taylor back in the fold. Jackson is a top handcuff moving forward.

Christian McCaffrey is shaking off the rust and he looks like the CMC we all know and love. But, there’s some turmoil in Carolina right now and the team is in need of a reset. If they decide to shed McCaffrey’s contract, D’Onta Foreman would be the team’s lead and goal line back. Plus, he was fantasy-relevant in place of Derrick Henry last season.

Bill Belichick hasn’t exactly had the best luck when it comes to drafting wide receivers, but he may have finally turned that around in Tyquan Thornton. Utilizing his blazing speed, Thorton took an end around for a score and then worked the red zone for another receiving touchdown. He’s shown the ability to separate and get open, while hopefully adding a spark to this Patriots’ offense.

We highlighted Kenyan Drake at the top but keep an eye on Gus Edwards working his way back from his own injury that’s kept him out since 2020. Edwards was set to be the RB1 last year when Dobbins went down and is quite familiar with the offense.

While Diontae Johnson and George Pickens get all the hype, don’t forget about Chase Claypool who’s running a route on nearly every dropback and has 16 targets over his last two games. The big receiver still has tons of potential in a loaded offense. His role for the Steelers has been growing over the last few weeks.

In a bizarre news dump, Cam Akers was ruled inactive for this week and then rumored to be put on the trade block. This would likely bump Kyren Williams into the RB2 role, who actually would have seen action in Week 1 if not for an injury according to Sean McVay. The plodding Darrell Henderson should be the RB1 moving forward, but Williams is a solid handcuff to stash.

The Giants’ rookie tight end seemingly has a nose for the end zone as Daniel Bellinger has struck again. He’s playing TE1 snaps and running a high percentage of routes on dropbacks, as well as being one of the few pass catchers available in the offense. He hasn’t really put up eye-popping numbers, but his stock is rising in the Giants’ offense.

Welcome back to the party Mike Gesicki. Despite his horrific Griddy attempts, Gesicki’s play was more impressive catching six balls for 69 yards and two scores. He had season highs in all categories, including snap percentage, despite the rotating QB play. We all know Hill and Waddle are the top dogs, but Gesicki can easily be a reliable third option if given the opportunity. He’s too talented to not be utilized.

These two RBs in Tyler Allgeier and Caleb Huntley are tough to figure out. First off, the Falcons rarely throw the ball, limiting their PPR upside. But these two nearly split carries evenly despite Allgeire’s favor when it comes to overall snaps and routes run. This isn’t exactly a booming offense, so you’re basically praying one of them stumbles into the end zone while Patterson is on IR.

I’m still mad at him over the dud early on when Michael Pittman was out, but Parris Campbell played every snap and ran a route on every dropback last game resulting in 11 targets and a 7-57-1 line. The Colts running backs are all banged up, leaving Matt Ryan to drop back 58 times (!) last week in a pass-heavy game script.

With Melvin Gordon essentially in the dog house, Latavius Murray was picked up off the street and inserted into the RB1 role with 13 carries on MNF for 63 yards. The loss of Javonte Williams opened up a lot in the backfield and it’s pretty much all gone to Murray with a sprinkle of Mike Boone in there. Murray runs hard and is good around the goal line. You’d think Denver eventually figures it out on offense.

STREAM

  1. Marcus Mariota, QB Atlanta Falcons (14% rostered)
  2. Justin Fields, QB Chicago Bears (32%)
  3. Taylor Heinicke, QB Washington Commanders (1%)
  4. New York Jets DST (3%)

Marcus Mariota is a disaster throwing the ball and if you are a Kyle Pitts or Drake London owner, you probably hate him. However, his Konami Code upside currently lands him at QB12 overall. Yep, Mariota is a QB1 this season. The former Duck get the Bengals this week in what could be a sneaky competitive game.

Justin Fields is in a tough spot against an ascending Patriots’ defense on Monday Night Football and the Bears’ offense is borderline unwatchable. However, he’s averaging 20 fantasy points per game over his last two and he’s accumulated over 47 rushing yards in each of his last four games. Belichick has had trouble in the past corralling mobile quarterbacks and he could add another sneaky 15-plus point day under his belt.

The news came out that Carson Wentz suffered a broken finger and will be sidelined for more than a month, leaving Taylor Heinicke as the starter. Wentz was putting up good numbers through the first few weeks but then fell off a cliff in terms of production. Washington has a solid group of weapons and Heinicke has shown in the past that he can run the offense. The Commanders square off against a descending Packers squad.

The Jets have gotten off to a surprising 4-2 start that has them just one game back of Buffalo in the AFC East. During their current three-game winning streak, New York’s outscoring their opponents 91-47 and has generated seven turnovers. They boast a top-12 defense against both the run and the pass, are tied for fifth with 10 takeaways on the year, and have put up an average of 13.6 PPG as a fantasy unit over the past three weeks. They get the hapless Broncos this week.
