Ricky Seals-Jones Fantasy Football Outlook Ascends to Locked-In Weekly Starter Role

RSJ is not only our namesake, but he's a weekly TE1 for now.

We told you last week to stream our namesake, Ricky Seals-Jones, if you managed a tight end-needy fantasy football team. And seeing how the majority of squads are lacking a consistent tight end, RSJ is your guy to pick up off the Week 7 waiver wire (available in 70 percent of leagues) while Logan Thomas recovers from a hamstring injury on injured reserve.

The Washington Football Team tight end turned back to the clock to his old receiver days against the Chiefs. He ran a route on an absurd 95 percent of Taylor Heinicke dropbacks and finished the day with four grabs for 58 yards and a score on six targets. He also played 100 percent of the team’s snaps. That is incredible usage for a tight end, especially one that is a great pass-catcher as a former Texas A&M receiver.

During his two games as a starter, RSJ has compiled nine receptions on 15 targets for 99 yards and a touchdown. He also has a higher PFF grade as a receiver than Thomas, who’s a stud in his own right.

“We’re gonna miss him [Thomas], but it’s Ricky’s turn to come up, step up,” Heinicke said two weeks ago. “I thought he did a great job of stepping up against Atlanta, made some plays. You’ve seen him progress throughout training camp and throughout this year, blocking and making some plays. We feel very confident in Ricky going in there and getting the job done.”

RSJ is a locked-in fantasy TE1 until Thomas returns from IR. But even then, he could have some value as a big-slot or pass-catching tight end alongside Thomas.

Thomas dropped to TE17 on The Wolf’s Rest of Season Rankings. But stay tuned for Tuesday night’s unveiling of our Week 7 Fantasy Rankings to see where RSJ is situated this week — expect it to be in the top-10 at his position.
