Tony Pollard Thriving In Absence of Ezekiel Elliott, Entering Into Must-Draft Fantasy Territory

Rookie running back Tony Pollard continues to climb into fantasy relevance with Ezekiel Elliott still MIA.

In case you have been living under a rock, Ezekiel Elliott has stated that he will hold himself out of Cowboys activities until he receives a new deal.  It was reported that Elliott privately informed the Cowboys early this offseason, and as a response, the Cowboys drafted a pair of running backs in the fourth and seventh rounds.  Tony Pollard, the fourth round pick from the University of Memphis, has dominated in training camp and preseason.

Pollard has taken full advantage of Elliott’s absence from the Cowboys and is making a name for himself.  Starting preseason game two, Pollard rushed the ball five times for 42 yards, including an impressive touchdown right through the heart of the Rams defense.  Pollard was a jack of all trades, scat back at Memphis, that is giving many a reminder of one former Cowboy, Lance Dunbar.

While Pollard certainly looks more competent running the ball than Dunbar, it’s still a fair question whether or not he can shoulder a full load for an extended period of time.  Still, Pollard has impressed the Cowboys enough that Jerry Jones even cracked a joke, responding, “Zeke who?” When asked about the situation between the two backs.  Pollard’s stock is skyrocketing and is entering into must draft territory as change of pace backs with starting upside carry a lot of value.
