Arians: Chris Godwin is an “Every Down Player,” Dominating Red Zone at Bucs Camp

Bruce Arians has high expectations for his third-year wideout, Chris Godwin.

Everyone don’t freak out!  Offseason media darling, Chris Godwin, has been dominating in the red zone.  Godwin’s improved body control was noted according to Tampa Bay Times writer Eduardo Encina.  Godwin and Winston continue to develop their already-improved chemistry and Bruce Arians has made no secret how much he loves this.

Arians has, on more than one occasion, referred to Godwin as a “100 catch guy.”  As if the hype train surrounding Godwin wasn’t crazy enough, Arians continued to praise Godwin’s versatility.  The head coach then went on to add that Godwin is an “every down player” and may never come off the field. The third-year wideout is in a spot where he has a unique blend of talent and opportunity.  Godwin will obviously draw a lot of single coverage as opposing defenses will have to focus on fellow wide out Mike Evans and at 6’1″ 210 lbs, paired with blazing 4.42 speed, he should feast on that opportunity.

One of the biggest concerns surrounding Godwin is athletic freak tight end O.J. Howard — who is poised to breakout.  Howard and Godwin can easily co-exist as 179 targets have been freed up with the departures of DeSean Jackson and Adam Humphries.  Godwin should still easily see at least 110 targets.  If he even comes close to living up to the hype and buzz surrounding him all offseason, Godwin could easily be a top-15 receiver this season. Right now, The Wolf has Godwin as his WR21.
