Josh Gordon Lights up Packers, Role Continues to Expand in Patriots Offense

This Josh Gordon guy is pretty good.

Josh Gordon was targeted 10 times in Sunday’s win over the Packers, tied with Julian Edelman for the most on the team. He turned those opportunities into 5 catches for 130 yards and a 55-yard TD on which he looked a whole lot more in shape than on his catch-and-jog 2 weeks ago in Chicago. Gordon put up the league’s 5th-best WR performance on Sunday, tying his season-high in receptions and putting up his highest yardage and fantasy point totals of the year. His role in New England’s offense just continues to expand, as does Tom Brady’s trust in the 27-year old wideout, and it should bode incredibly well for fantasy owners.

Josh Gordon did all of this with a dislocated finger which popped out early in the contest and had to be popped back in several times over the course of the night. His 130-yard performance was his highest yardage total since 2013 — which came against the Patriots at Gillette — and he was very optimistic about his role and increasing chemistry with Tom Brady afterwards.

“I love it,” Gordon said of his chemistry with Brady. “We talk about it every week in practice. He enjoys doing it, I enjoy doing it. I let him know, ‘If you can get anywhere in the vicinity, I’m going to try to make a play on it and make a good effort to try to go and get it.’ We missed one of them – I was out of bounds – but it’s great that he has a certain amount of trust in me to put it in my direction. And, I just want to come down and make a play on it, so it was awesome to have it done.”

Next week for Gordon and the Patriots brings a matchup with the Titans, who have allowed the 10th-most points to wideouts in 2018, followed by a bye week.
