2018 Fantasy Football Waiver Wire Week 7: Start, Stash and Stream

Wanna know who to start, stash and stream for this upcoming week? RSJ has you covered.

Welcome back to Start, Stash and Stream where we provide an in depth look into the waiver wire landscape each week. You’ll see a lot of repeat offenders on this list, but a few mid-season risers (especially in Indianapolis) are skyrocketing up the waiver wire. And with almost half the season over, now is not the time to be frugal with your FAAB dollars. Buy now, cause you cannot use them at your local Sunoco Station, Whole Foods, or CVS Pharmacy on season’s end. As a note, bye week players worthy of Start, Stash and Stream consideration will find themselves in the “Stash” section from here on out, so be wary.

Start

  1. Keke Coutee, WR, Houston Texans (47% Yahoo ownership); (8-10% FAAB)
  2. Marlon Mack, RB, Indianapolis Colts (26% Yahoo ownership); (8-10% FAAB)
  3. Peyton Barber, RB, Tampa Bay Buccaneers (33% Yahoo ownership); (6-8% FAAB)
  4. Taylor Gabriel, WR, Chicago Bears (22% Yahoo ownership); (5-7% FAAB)
  5. Chris Godwin, WR, Tampa Bay Buccaneers (44% Yahoo ownership); (4-6% FAAB)
  6. Frank Gore, RB, Miami Dolphins (10% Yahoo ownership); (4-6% FAAB)
  7. C.J. Uzomah, TE, Cincinnati Bengals (33% Yahoo ownership); (3-5% FAAB)
  8. Chester Rogers, WR, Indianapolis Colts (16% Yahoo ownership); (2-4% FAAB)
  9. Tre’Quan Smith, WR, New Orleans Saints (5% Yahoo ownership); (2-4% FAAB)
  10. DeDe Westbrook, WR, Jacksonville Jaguars (44% Yahoo ownership); (2-4% FAAB)
  11. Baker Mayfield, QB, Cleveland Browns (42% Yahoo ownership); (1-2% FAAB)
  12. Mitchell Trubisky, QB, Chicago Bears (29% Yahoo ownership)

This Indianapolis Cols backfield is starting to give me a real Mack Attack (eyeroll emoji). In his first substantial playing time this yearMalon Mack dominated incumbent Nyheim Hines in terms of touches (13 to 5) and total yardage (93 to 35), averaging a robust 7.4 yards per carry on the ground. If he can wrangle the Colts RB job, and throw in a few receptions per game, his potential in a high-power Colts offensive attack could be limitless…Well, well, well. How the turntables…Just a few weeks ago it looked as though Ronald Jones II would take the reigns from Peyton Barber as the lead dog in the Bucs backfield. And then Sunday happened. Barber totaled 17 touches for 106 yards and a touchdown, maybe finally feeling that urgency and pressure to do…well, something or anything!…Frank Gore continues to defy science as he cracked 100 yards and proved to be more trustworthy than Kenyan Drake, who lost a fumble on the goal line in overtime…Call me absolute crazy, but I am all in on C.J. Uzomah and his rest of season TE1 potential. With Tyler Eifert and Tyler Kroft looking doubtful to return this season, Uzomah has no competition for snaps at the tight end position in Cincinnati. Just last year Kroft Mac N’ Cheese caught 7 touchdowns from Andy Dalton, and Uzomah looks far more explosive and reliable… I finally bought in to T.Y. Hilton this year after years of calling him a boom-or-bust player. And I guess the saying you reap what you sow is absolutely true. Thankfully, Chester Rogers looks to be more than just a viable fantasy starter. He looks to be Andrew Luck‘s personal comfort blanket as he has garnered double digit targets in all three starts this year. He will remain a high end flex / low level WR2 while Hilton remains shelved, and will maintain value the rest of this 2018 fantasy season.

I would kick Latavius Murray up into the “Starter” category, but I guess you never know with Dalvin Cook. What I do know, however, is that hamstring injures can linger, and Murray’s 24-155-1 TD line Sunday was very impressive…I have kept this next man pretty high on the “Stash” list since the debut Start, Stash and Stream article. And after mediocre performance, after horrendous performance, after downright terrible performance, I still stuck with him. Finally, he paid off. The only Cowboy to catch more than 2 (TWO!) balls Week 6 was Cole Beasley, who popped off to the tune of 9-101-2 TDs. Besides Ezekiel ElliottDak Prescott does not see very many familiar faces. As the only reliable pass catcher on the team, Beasley’s stock could be about to lift off…For the third time this season, Captain Christian Kirk led all Cardinals skill players in receiving yardage. Kirk ranks eighth in the NFL in catch rate, and continues to build upon his chemistry with rookie quarterback Josh Rosen…Will the real Cleveland Browns WR2 please stand up?!?! After another paltry and inefficient game by Antonio Callaway (2 receptions on 10 targets, 12 receptions on 36 targets his past four games), Damion Ratley (who?) caught 6 of 8 targets for a team leading 82 yards. I do not know Damien Ratley from Boo Radley, but I want all of Baker Mayfield‘s second wide receiving option.

Stream

  1. Joe Flacco, QB, Baltimore Ravens (27% Yahoo ownership)
  2. Eli Manning, QB, New York Giants (22% Yahoo ownership)
  3. Denver Broncos DST (44% Yahoo ownership)
  4. Detroit Lions DST (5% Yahoo ownership)
  5. Marcus Mariota, QB, Tennessee Titans (33% Yahoo ownership)

Very skimpy down in this section, but you can find plenty of sub 50% owned players above who are worthy of starting this week. Joe Flacco and Eli Manning (Super Bowl winning quarterbacks, guys!) both have great matchups against struggling NFC South secondaries (the New Orleans Saints and Atlanta Falcons, respectively). If quarterbacks like Mayfield and Trubisky are long gone, these gents should put up points…or duds. Really just depends on how these two inconsistent field generals feel these days.
