Frank Gore Tops 100 Yards, Proves to be the More Trustworthy Option Over Kenyan Drake

Frank Gore just does not age.

Frank Gore registered 101 yards on 15 carries while turning his lone target into an 18-yard catch Sunday in the Dolphins’ Week 6 victory over the Bears. Gore, the NFL’s oldest running back, is the first player to rush for 100 yards against Chicago this year. Go figure. The veteran brought the hammer in overtime, cruising to 47 yards during the extra period. He broke off a 32-yard run in overtime, which marked his longest rushing play in almost three years. Gore looked gassed after that run and was soon replaced by Kenyan Drake, who proceeded to lose a fumble on the goal-line. However, Miami’s backfield remained a near even split on Sunday with Drake out-touching Gore 17-16. Those two will continue to work in tandem next week against the Lions.

Frank Gore showed no signs of old age in Sunday’s game against the Bears, where it looked like he was clearly the best option running the football for Miami. In what would have been their game-winning touchdown drive before Drake fumbled at the one, Gore plowed his way through the Bears defense and got Miami into prime position to win the game. He likely would have finished the drive off with a win if he wasn’t so gassed after running multiple plays in a row with such intensity in near 100-degree heat. Watching Drake fumble away their win at the moment, you’d have to think coach Adam Gase will lean on Gore more often now, especially on the goal line. He looked young, spry and powerful on his runs which Drake hasn’t been able to provide at all in 2018. Gore could be added as a flex option if necessary.
