Somehow, someway, we are nearly through the 1st quarter of the Fantasy Football season. Indeed, Fantasy can be the cruelest mistress, bringing the highest of highs, lowest of lows, and leaving you almost as quickly as she arrived. Don’t let her rip your heart out in Week 4, and pull off a crucial W with the best Fantasy Football Rankings in the game.
Chasing perfection at 4-0? Staying in the Bye Week fight at 3-1? Moving to .500, or trying desperately to spark the team with the first win of the season? Whatever your situation may be, you need to make the right lineup decisions.
Start with my rankings, as well as the Rankings Rundown. You can hear my thoughts through the rankings process, including who I’m higher and lower on, and more. I’ll also keep a running “Updates Log” of the news you need to know heading into Week 4.
But that’s just the start. If you have any specific lineup questions, please let me know. While rankings are helpful, many factors are at play that can cause a change. For example, you may be an underdog, and starting a “boom-or-bust” player is more appealing for your lineup versus a surefire 7 or 8 points.

As a reminder: these Week 4 Fantasy Football Rankings are based on 1/2 PPR, 4 Pt Passing TD Scoring.
Week 4 Updates
- Corey Clement and Darren Sproles are both inactive for the Eagles. Jay Ajayi shoots up to my Top-20 RBs, and Wendell Smallwood (5% owned) is a fantastic Hail Mary if you’re brutally desperate
- Randall Cobb is inactive, which gives Geronimo Allison a nice boost. Ty Montgomery also becomes even more streamable, and is only 18% owned.
- Larry Fitzgerald is apparently at less than 100%, but expected to go. I love Christian Kirk this week as a great Hail Mary fill-in at only 12% owned
- After some scares throughout the week, Matt Breida is expected to play. Alfred Morris is also expecting to be active, though Breida, who entered Week 4 as the NFL’s leading rusher, is head and shoulders above him. CJ Beathard targeted Carlos Hyde a whopping 8.9 times per game (compared to 3.8 by other QBs), and the 49ers could be in come back mode all afternoon. Breida’s a high-end RB2, low-end RB1 this week.
- Ryan Fitzpatrick was reportedly “one or two plays away” from being benched last Monday, and will now have Jameis Winston breathing down his neck. At risk for a mid-game substitution, Fitzpatrick has to slide down rankings now.
- Doug Baldwin is expected to return versus the Cardinals, but “may not be 100 percent.” Though odd the team is rushing him out against an awful Cardinals team, owners should mostly keep him on the bench until we see him get it done. Tyler Lockett, who’s been Fantasy’s WR16 through 3 weeks, takes a hit here
- LeSean McCoy is expected to give it a go, and is in a sneaky blow up spot versus a GB defense that got shredded by Adrian Peterson for 120. He’s definitely benchable for similar upside plays, as he could take one bad hit to the ribs and be done, but also deserves consideration in most cases.
- Alshon Jeffery is active and will square off with the Titans, who surrender the 3rd most FPs to WRs. Rolling him out would be risky, but Alshon is a fair TD bet with Carson Wentz rounding into form and a date with an awful defense. Nelson Agholor‘s target total could take a hit.
- Keenan Allen is a little dinged up, but expected to give it a go. He could blow up in a prime matchup versus SF, but falls from my WR5 to WR10 in light of being less than 100%.
- Josh Gordon is expected to make his Patriots debut this week. Just like Jeffery and Baldwin, a “wait-and-see” approach is advised, but Gordon can be deployed if your other options are bleh, as his upside is astronomical as soon as he steps on the field with Tom Brady.
