Fantasy Football Impact: David Johnson Having Surgery on Dislocated Wrist, Out 2-3 Months

Fantasy football's No. 1 overall pick is likely done for the entire fantasy football season.

Today was a very tragic day in the fantasy football community, as news broke that Arizona Cardinals running back David Johnson suffered a dislocated wrist and will be out for the next 2-3 months.

After being told that he suffered a dislocated wrist and would be out for a long period of time, Johnson went for a second opinion that confirmed the first opinion. Johnson will in fact undergo surgery and will miss the next 2-3 months. The latter would end his 2017 fantasy football campaign.

So what options are there now that Johnson will be sidelined for some time? Well the Cardinals used both Kerwyn Williams and Andre Ellington in Johnson’s place. Williams got five carries for ten yards (one of which was a touchdown run), while Ellington only caught two balls for 35 yards. Although Ellington out-snapped Williams 20-to-9, he didn’t have any carries. It looks like Williams will get the majority of the carries now, but it’s tough to see anything else besides a committee — especially now that they signed DJ Foster from the Patriots practice squad. Arizona has also expressed interest in bringing back former RB sensation and overall gangster Chris Johnson.

To be honest, there’s really no enticing options in Arizona that can help lighten the load of losing Johnson. That’s simply too tall a task to ask. Of course, make sure to check out The Wolf’s Waiver Wire article, which will help you get through these tough times. We’ll continue to monitor Johnson’s status and update you with any new news dumps or blurbs on Johnson’s outlook.
