Fantasy Football Week 15 QB Start ‘Em/Sit ‘Em: JJ McCarthy, Jaxson Dart, Jordan Love

Is J.J. McCarthy a week 15 must start? Is it time to bench Sam Darnold?

It’s playoff time!

It’s time for savvy fantasy managers who have survived the barrage of injuries to cement their names forever as fantasy champions.

Now that fantasy rosters are primarily assembled, winning the waiver wire and making wise start/sit decisions is everything.

Week 15 features a slew of starts that might require a little extra fortitude to submit. It’s paramount to appropriately gauge floors, upside, and exploitable matchups.

As always, remember this is just a game, and do not target NFL players on social media for lackluster fantasy performances.

Let’s go win some titles, Wolves! The GOAT approves of this message.

Start/sit options for each primary position are listed below.

QB | RB | WR

QUARTERBACKS TO START IN WEEK 15:

Brock Purdy vs. Tennessee Titans

The 49ers were granted the gift of rest after a bye.

Santa Claus left another early gift in Purdy manager’s stockings with a home tilt against the Tennessee Titans.

Shedeur Sanders just diced up the Titans’ secondary like a scalpel through melted butter.

Purdy has not been amazing this season while playing, tossing only 9 TDs alongside 7 picks. However, he’s been very efficient throwing TD passes (5.6% TD rate) across the season.

In his last two games, though, Purdy has thrown a TD on 3.1% and 3.4% of his passes and has averaged 5.9 yards per attempt.

Purdy is a strong start for fantasy managers in week 15 after the Titans just yielded 364 yards and four total scores to Sanders.

Expect a scoring boom for Purdy and the 49ers, who have averaged 23 points in their last two games.

Jaxson Dart vs. Washington Commanders

Dart has been a wunderkind for the Giants in his rookie season. While still taking an unnecessary amount of dumb hits and playing a little fast and loose with the ball, Dart has continued to produce strong fantasy numbers.

The Giants’ rookie ranks second behind only Josh Allen in fantasy points per dropback (0.65) among QBs that have played in at least 8 games in 2025.

He has finished as a QB1 in four of his eight games, and has yet to finish worse than a QB2 in any game he started.

As a passer, Dart drips in week-winning upside, with 13.6% (4th among qualified QBs) of his passes traveling deep downfield.

While concerns about his rushing upside may persist after only four rushing attempts in week 12, the Commanders have surrendered the third-most passing TDs (26) to opposing quarterbacks.

It’s worth noting that in week 14, JJ McCarthy threw for three TDs while completing nearly 70% of his passes.

Dart is a strong quarterback option in week 15.

Jared Goff vs. Los Angeles Rams

Starting Goff sounds like a slam dunk on paper, right? After all, his offense scored 44 points in week 14, so he had a strong game… right? Right?!?!?

Well… see there’s the rub. The Lions clawed the Cowboys into bits with its ground game, scoring four of five TDs, leaving Goff with only one TD through the air.

The Rams are a scary defense to play against. But let’s not forget that Bryce Young just marched the ball up and down on them in week 13.

Expect the Lions’ rush game to struggle against the pass-funnel Rams defense that neutralizes opponents’ ground games.

Goff has a solid floor, throwing at least 1 TD in every game this season, and could be in line for a multi-TD outing as the Rams could force the Lions into an early deficit.

Consider Goff a low-end QB1 this week with a top 5 finish within the realm of possibility.

JJ McCarthy vs. Dallas Cowboys

Start McCarthy? A little liquid courage might be needed before you lock him into your lineups.

Still, the Dallas Cowboys are fantasy point fertilizer for the QB position. You just plant the QB firmly in your lineup, add water, and watch your chances of winning grow with time.

The star has surrendered the most fantasy points per game to quarterbacks this season.

NextGenStats revealed that McCarthy’s 9.6 average intended air yards ranks first among starting NFL QBs. For reference, Josh Allen and Patrick Mahomes average 7.2 and 7.9, respectively.

With Dallas tightening up its rush defense since the trade deadline, the Vikings will be forced to chuck the ball around the yard to keep pace with the high-octane Cowboy attack.

McCarthy’s floor is terrifyingly low, but the week-winning ceiling is there.

QUARTERBACKS TO SIT IN WEEK 15:

Jacoby Brissett vs. Houston Texans

Brissett has proven that the Cardinals’ pass offense can be a fantasy factory. Despite being a game manager for most of his career, Jacoby has been elite since taking over for Kyler Murray.

He has thrown for multiple TDs in seven of his eight games and has thrown for fewer than 260 yards only once (258 vs. Seattle).

Brissett has also finished as a QB1 in EVERY start this season, so why should managers bench Ja-goatby?

The Texans’ defense is just THAT good. Mahomes and Allen have combined for 413 passing yards with 0 TDs and 5 picks.

In those games, the Texans managed 10 combined sacks. Houston allows the fewest points to the QB position in the NFL and has not surrendered a QB1 performance all season.

With Michael Wilson and Trey McBride balling for the Cardinals, it’s feasible that Brissett manages a respectable outing.

Still, he projects to finish as a mid QB2 and can be put on the pine for streamers like Purdy or Goff.

Caleb Williams vs. Cleveland Browns

Jekyll/Hyde, Caleb Williams. What do they have in common?

They’re the same person from a football production standpoint.

What is Williams’ floor? Putrid. His ceiling? Congratulations, you win your week!

He’s completed only 57.8% of his passes and is one of the most off-target QBs in the league.

FantasyPoints data shows that 19.5% of his passes have been off target, ranking alongside McCarthy, CJ Stroud, Baker Mayfield, Michael Penix, and Cam Ward.

On the other side of the ball, the Browns generate pressure 39.3% of the time and, per NextGenStats, Williams’ passer rating drops from 100.3 to 55.3 when facing pressure.

In a matchup with the stingy Cleveland defense (fourth-fewest fantasy points to QBs), Williams needs to be a break in case of emergency QB only.

Bo Nix vs. Green Bay Packers

Denver rode flashy rookie RJ Harvey in week 14. Nix was a rushing TD away from another disappointing fantasy finish.

He has not finished as a QB1 since back-to-back finishes in weeks 7 and 8.

With a 43.5 over/under, the Broncos-Packers game projects to be a slobber knocker with two strong defenses that love to lean on their respective ground games.

The Packers defense specializes in disguised coverages, which PFF pointed out Nix struggles against.

Nix does not need to see the fantasy field in week 15.

Jordan Love vs. Denver Broncos

Go figure, the starting QB on the other side of the slobber knocker is a sit. Raise your hand if you’re surprised!

The Broncos rank in the top 5 at containing QBs, allowing around 18.2 ppg, and have held opposing passers to fewer than 200 yards in six of their 13 games.

Denver has pressured the quarterback on 38% of dropbacks and effectively eliminates deep shots, Love’s bread-and-butter.

Love has finished as a QB2 or worse in four of his last six games, but he has scored more than 20 points in back-to-back outings.

There’s still a path to Love having a good game after dismantling the blitz in week 14 against the Bears.

Still, Love projects to post low-to-mid QB2 and should only be played if necessary.
