The Fantasy Football Bye Weeks are here, and many owners find themselves scrambling to the Waiver Wire for streamers. Whether replacing Keenan Allen, an injured Amon-Ra St. Brown, or you’re just desperate for depth, the hunt stops now!
Giants WR Wan’Dale Robinson is available in nearly 80% of leagues, and is set up for a solid Week 5 and ROS Outlook. Wan’Dale’s been heavily-targeted since returning to the lineup, and has a clear path to the Giants’ WR1 role for the rest of 2023.
With Saquon Barkley expected to miss the Week 5 Matchup, the Giants will be desperate for playmakers. He’s also the bare-minimum $3K on Draftkings, giving Robinson some true DFS appeal.
Let’s dive into Wan’Dale Robinson‘s streamer-value and long-term ceiling.

Who is Wan’Dale Robinson?

As you can see via PlayerProfiler, Robinson lacks the prototypical WR1 size (just 5’8″, 179). Yet, he’s a speedy little jitterbug, with an 81st percentile 40-yard dash (4.44) and 65th percentile agility score.
No, Wan’Dale won’t “wow” anyone with his athletic profile. Yet, his incredible college production profile is likely far more indicative of his true upside.
Robinson commanded a whopping 39.3% target share in college — top 1% all time. He recorded 1334 receiving yards on 104 receptions as a junior and got open at will thanks to incredible quick releases at the line.
Wan’Dale ultimately ranked 6th in missed tackles forced, showing consistent juice, vision, and toughness after the catch. Though Robinson shines in the short-to-intermediate game, he also has solid vertical acceleration to still be a threat at every layer.
Given his elite production, Robinson ultimately earned the highest PFF grade among all SEC WRs:

He also recorded 691 rushing yards over his career, highlighting his versatility. In fact, Robinson was a 4-star recruit as the No.1 all-purpose running back out of high school. This drew some Deebo Samuel-lite comparisons.
While Robinson hasn’t come close to hitting Deebo’s ceiling, the profile is certainly intriguing. Robinson has shouldered entire offenses before (at a very young age – 95th percentile for breakout age), and perfectly meshes with the risk-averse Daniel Jones.
What has Wan’Dale Robinson’s NFL Career and 2023 Production Been?
While Robinson hasn’t been healthy enough to showcase his real upside, he’s provided glimpses of a true ceiling.
Immediately, Wan’Dale generated buzz during his rookie-season Training Camp. In fact, Peter King called him “the star” of camp:
“The star, I thought, of the Giants offense in the practice I saw was Wan’Dale Robinson,” Peter King said after he visited Giants training camp. “A smurfy little receiver, he plays a lot of different roles…This kid is a problem.’”
We don’t get points for Training Camp hype, sadly. However, Robinson put out plenty of impressive tape during his rookie year. He only lasted 6 weeks, but Robinson posted over 11 PPR FPs in three of those contests, finishing as the WR9, WR29, and WR35.
He also appeared on the verge of a true breakout before his Week 11 injury. Through about three quarters, Robinson had racked up 13 targets, 9 receptions, and 100 yards. He was the offensive engine, just like he had been for so many years in college.

He returned to the field in Week 3 vs. the 49ers. Although he didn’t play much (25% of routes, 11 total), Robinson was targeted 5 times — a whopping 56% target per route.
In Week 4, Robinson saw his routes jump to 63%. He also paced the WRs in targets (6), receptions (5), and yards (40), also adding a seven-yard carry.
As the usage indicates, Robinson has been highly-targeted when out there:

This high-usage shouldn’t be surprising. Daniel Jones has long-leaned on his slot-weapons & higher-percentage throws. Sterling Shepard had routinely been a Top-30 Fantasy WR when available.
Even Richie James feasted when he got the full-time role. From Week 11 on, James was the WR12 in Fantasy. He averaged 6.4 targets per game and averaged 14.1 PPR FPs in the span. In fact, James posted 13.8 or more points in 5 of those 7 games, finishing was a Top-24 WR in all of them (71%).
Wan’Dale is 10000x the player of James when healthy. As the workload ramps up, he could easily produce similarly impressive results, beginning as early as Week 5.
Should You Start Wan’Dale Robinson? Week 5 Fantasy Outlook
I know, I know. Should we really be targeting a passing offense that hasn’t topped 140 yards in three-of-four games? A team averaging the fewest points per game (barely above 11)? That has maybe one solid half of football?
I still think yes. I believe in Brian Daboll to right this ship, and I believe getting Wan’Dale Robinson more involved will be a key piece to doing so.
As 12.5 point underdogs vs. the Dolphins, the Giants are expected to get destroyed today. They likely will, because they suck.
Still, this could lead to a healthy amount of passing volume in “come-back-mode.” Robinson, thus, could be set for extremely heavy usage.
The Giants’ line has been unequivocally the worst in football. You have to imagine Daboll will be scheming a ton of quick-hitters and designed looks for Robinson.
Especially with Barkley out, the team will need any playmaking they can get. Darren Waller, Darius Slayton and especially Parris Campbell have been terribly underwhelming. Robinson has already begun his ascent over the latter, starting over him in Week 4. He may send Campbell to the bench full-time in Week 5.
The TD equity isn’t high with Robinson. Still, in Half or Full PPR league, I expect a healthy 28-30% target share, and some serious production to follow. 7-10 catches and 80+ yards are legitimately plausible. This makes him both a very viable Week 5 Fantasy Streamer and ideal Draftkings $3K punt. He is The Wolf’s WR47 (+ 2 ECR) for Week 5.
Ultimately, I think Robinson will breakout in Week 5 and carry this over as the Giants’ true WR1 for however long he holds up this season. Beyond his streaming appeal, Robinson could absolutely carve out a role with long-term ROS upside.
Wan’Dale Robinson Week 5 Fantasy Projection: 9 targets, 7 receptions, 75 yards
