Kalif Raymond is a Sneaky Fantasy Week 5 Fantasy Start With Amon-Ra St Brown News

Is Kalif Raymond trustworthy for a Week 5 start?

The Detroit Lions were bit by the injury bug this week with Amon-Ra St Brown and Jahmyr Gibbs listed as doubtful against the Panthers Sunday. With two of the Lions top pass catchers expected to be out Kalif Raymond looks like an interesting spot start for Week 5.

Raymond has had sporadic utilization this season, but is he worth the start in Week 5? Let’s take a look.

WHO IS KALIF RAYMOND?

Kalif Raymond is an eight year pro, who can stretch the field, and is always due for a random boom game over the last two seasons. Prior to his stint with the Lions, Raymond served primarily as a special teamer.

Raymond is a speedster on the field, reaching the second highest speed of a ball carrier just last week. The eight year pro has had two serviceable games this season with St Brown, and Gibbs on the field.

UTILIZATION

Kalif Raymond has seen 31 slot snaps so far this season, which ranks third on the team behind banged up Josh Reynolds and Amon-Ra St Brown. Jared Goff at home is a recipe for success. Goff averages 260 yards per game at Ford Field, and Raymond should be the beneficiary of his home success in Week 5.

The Panthers secondary is not strong and their stats benefit from a Week 1 matchup against the Desmond Ridder and the Falcons. Raymond has the ability to score anytime he touches the ball and will be given increased opportunities to do that on Sunday.

SHOULD YOU START RAYMOND IN WEEK 5?

A home matchup against the 0-4 Panthers is favorable for Raymond. If you’re needy at WR or hurting from byes, Raymond is worth the spot start. Raymond is also a great value in DFS.

Raymond checks in at WR47 (+24 vs ECR) on The Wolf’s Week 5 Rankings.
