Here are some standout fantasy news and notes from training camps around the NFL on August 10.

Anthony Richardson: Will start Colts first preseason game

One of the more polarizing fantasy and NFL players this year is rookie QB Anthony Richardson who was taken fourth overall by the Indianapolis Colts. His athleticism is off the charts possessing serious Konami Code upside similar to Jalen Hurts, Kyler Murray, Justin Fields, etc. With that draft capital and Garnder Minshew as his backup, Indy looks ready to thrust its franchise QB under center in Week 1. The window to buy low on Richardson is slowly closing and is near shut at this point. He makes for a great late round pick thanks to his enormous dual threat upside.

Garrett Wilson: Returns to practice as full participant

Jets fans and fantasy owners can breathe a heavy sigh of relief with the return of Garrett Wilson to Jets practice after an ankle injury had kept him sidelined for awhile. Wilson had a huge rookie season and is a prime candidate for an even better sophomore campaign now that Aaron Rodgers will be under center for the Jets offense. He’s got sky high potential, so this is great news seeing him back on the field already.

Kenneth Gainwell: Potentially throwing a wrench into the Eagles backfield

When it comes to Gainwell, however, it looks like he’s being promoted to a “feature” back spot.

Gainwell has increasingly been the team’s early down back where he’s getting touches as a runner. I thought that might be where Penny finds himself, but Gainwell has undoubtedly had a stronger camp. He’s gotten the vast majority of first-team carries and excelled there on Wednesday.

Just when we thought there might be some clarity on the Eagles’ backfield, we get this wrench thrown in our faces. Presumably we had expected Rashaad Penny to handle the early down work, D’Andre Swift to get the third down and pass catching situations role, and both Kenneth Gainwell and Boston Scott fill in the gaps here and there.

Turns out, Gainwell actually might be the front runner for the lead back role over Penny. We know Penny has been unable to stay on the field throughout his career, while Gainwell has never really showcased lead back ability. Maybe this year is different though and Gainwell could be someone we should be monitoring closer heading into drafts. He’s a sneaky very good late-round flier to take in Best Ball. FWIW, Swift seems to have his role very established and locked in.
