NFL Preseason Week 1: PrizePicks Fantasy Player Prop Picks (Thursday Night)

Malik Willis is one of four players who will get into the green on Thursday night.

Welcome back to our PrizePicks fantasy player prop picks! The last time we chatted, I gave out free money on Super Bowl Sunday, thanks to Evan McPherson, Tee Higgins, and Matthew Stafford. Am I a degenerate because a two-game Week 1 Preseason Thursday slate caught my eye? Maybe. But, the money is in the crumbs.

If you’ve never played, PrizePicks allows users to pick and combine between two to five players to win up to 10x on any entry. PrizePicks designates a player prop or fantasy point total on select players and users need to choose whether that player will go over or under that total. Although the user can combine picks from a variety of sports, this article focuses on NFL Preseason Week 1.

NFL WEEK 1 PRESEASON PRIZEPICKS PLAYS

7:00 p.m. (ET) New York Giants at New England Patriots

7:30 p.m. (ET) Tennessee Titans at Baltimore Ravens

KEVIN HARRIS OVER 22.5 RUSHING YARDS

If you know anything about Preseason Week 1 Bill Belichick, you know he loves playing the young guys and he will ride his third and fourth-string early-down running backs to see if they compete for a roster spot. On Thursday, it will be rookie bruiser Kevin Harris‘ chance to shine.

Last preseason, third-stringer Rhamondre Stevenson led the team with 10 carries for 127 yards and two touchdowns in Week 1. In 2019, something called Nick Brossette toted the rock 22 times for 66 yards and a score to kick off the preseason. Damien Harris and Stevenson will maybe get three series combined, leaving carries to Kevin Harris, Pierre Strong, and veteran JJ Taylor — with Harris getting the early-down carries.

His 4.0 fantasy score will go over, too.

KYLE PHILIPS OVER 20.5 RECEIVING YARDS

The rookie slot receiver from UCLA has cooked the Titans’ secondary all training camp — earning him significant time with the first team. Typically, I fade locked-in starters in the first preseason game. But, Kyle Philips is still competing against Nick Westbrook-Ikhine for the starting slot role and Mike Vrabel will want the rookie to gain valuable game reps. Philips might get some first-team work with Ryan Tannehill and he will likely play at least a half of football, which will be more than enough to hit 21 receiving yards. Lock. It. In.

TRE NIXON OVER 18.5 RECEIVING YARDS

Tre Nixon, a shifty slot guy out of UCF, was the GOAT Ernie Adams’ final draft pick of his career last season. After taking a typical Patriots’ redshirt rookie season, Nixon has recently made some noise during training camp and is forming a rapport with Mac Jones and Bailey Zappe — who will see significant playing time against the Giants. Nixon should get ample opportunity as the lone true slot behind Jakobi Meyers. I’d be shocked to see Meyers on the field for more than one or two series on Thursday. Nixon should easily hit this over and his 3.4 fantasy points should cash too.

MALIK WILLIS OVER 6.5 FANTASY POINTS

Malik Willis might not be ready to be a starter in the NFL quite yet, but he’s the perfect fantasy quarterback to ride in the preseason. Sharing backup duties with Logan Woodside, he’ll rack up yardage through the air and on the ground against the Ravens’ second and third-team defenses. Don’t be surprised if Willis scores a rushing touchdown and/or throws a touchdown during his quarter-plus of action. These two games will probably suck, but Willis will be must-see TV on Thursday night.

Side note: We love PrizePicks, but are they cowards for not posting a Malik Willis rush line??

OTHER PLAYS I LIKE

Bailey Zappe over 6.0 fantasy score, Tyler Baddie over 21.5 rushing yards, Hassan Haskins over 25.5 rushing yards, Darius Slayton under 17.5 receiving yards
