Sterling Shepard Rest of Season Fantasy Outlook Booming as Daniel Jones’ Clear Target Hog

Sterling Shepard is an elite PPR target hog.

Outside of Sterling Shepard, Giants’ fans have not had much to cheer about over the first two weeks of the season. The sixth-year wideout added another nine receptions and 94 yards on 10 targets to his resume during the team’s heartbreaking loss to the Washington Football Team. Shepard, who is at the top of the Giants’ target totem pole, has made it clear he’s the team’s alpha above the overpaid Kenny Golladay, a banged-up Saquon Barkley, and Kadarius Toney, the team’s first-round pick.

If you fell asleep at the wheel last week, Shepard is still available in 46 percent of Yahoo! leagues and is a must-add on the Week 3 Waiver Wire.

Not only does Jones’ clear target hog need to be rostered in every league, but he needs to be started. Shepard now has 16 receptions, 207 yards, and a touchdown on 19 targets — leading the Giants in all three categories.

Over his last four games played, Shepard has averaged 10.25 targets, 8.25 rec, 99 rec yds, and nearly a touchdown per game. These averages come out to 24.5 PPR points per game. Shepard is a dynamite WR2 fantasy option that was available in 61 percent of Yahoo! leagues just a week ago.

This isn’t an abnormal start to the season for the wideout. He has always put up numbers when healthy, but his health is what has been his issue throughout his career. Shepard has missed over four games to injury in three of his last four seasons — most recently a turf toe that cost him four games last season. The former Sooner still averaged at least 5.4 receptions in each of those four injury-plagued seasons.

If you missed our Week 2 Waiver Wire advice and Shep is still available in your league, put a claim in for him. As of today, Shepard lands at WR38 (-1 vs the ECR) on The Wolf’s Rest of Season Fantasy Football Rankings.
