Carlos Hyde… or DeeJay Dallas…Waiver Wire & FAAB Priority with Chris Carson Injury “Week-to-Week”

Chris Carson's injury will sideline him "week-to-week," which makes Carlos Hyde (and DeeJay Dallas) Waiver Wire priorities

The thin fantasy football RB pool grew more shallow after a brutal Week 7 of NFL action. During Sunday Night Football, both Chris Carson and Kenyan Drake suffered respective foot and ankle injuries that will sideline them for the foreseeable future.

This opens the door for volume within two Top-10 scoring attacks. Who will capitalize?

We dove into the Cardinals backfield first, specifically Chase Edmonds fantasy outlook skyrocketing with Drake’s injury.

Now, let’s look at Chris Carson and his foot injury. Plus, should you burn a high waiver wire priority on Carlos Hyde? How much FAAB is Hyde, who’s reportedly dealing with a hamstring injury, worth?

Does this make *gasp* DeeJay Dallas the sneaky waiver wire play for Week 8?

Chris Carson Injury Update

Carson suffered a mid-foot sprain against the Cardinals, which is expected to sideline him for “some time.” According to Ian Rapoport, Carson is considered “week to week.”  Still, the Seattle Times’ Bob Condotta reported the injury “is not considered to be significant.”

To further the lack of severity, Carson was seen pacing the sideline throughout the game, making a push to play.

Consequently, fantasy owners shouldn’t panic. Still, a backup plan will be necessary. Why not the man on the same roster?

Carlos Hyde Waiver Wire & FAAB Priority in Week 8

Hyde tallied 15 carries, 68 yards, and 1 TD in Carson’s absence. Additionally, Hyde added 3 receptions for a meager 8 yards, still flashing three-down upside. In Carson’s absence, Hyde played 41 snaps, compared to 16 for Homer, the next closest backup. He was, and will be, the guy… if healthy.

That’s the rub here.

Hyde reportedly “has some hamstring tightness,” which now puts his Week 8 status in doubt.

Suddenly, the shoo-in for No.1 Waiver Priority and a solid 20%+ Waiver Bid

Well, how about that Travis Homer creature? He’s been, uh, on the field, right?

Nope, knee contusion.

OK… so uh…we’re left with…

DeeJay Dallas Waiver Wire Sneaky Play

Currently 0% owned, DeeJay Dallas might be the Seahawks RB to own off the Week 8 Waiver Wire.

The 4th round rookie out of Miami has barely touched the field, nevermind the ball. He’s seen a grand total of 6 totes (4 rec) for 41 total yards.

Still, volume is the lifeblood of fantasy success. With literally no one else available, Dallas might stumble his way into 15+ touches within the NFL’s highest scoring offense (33.8 PPG).

Don’t discount Dallas’ impressive, albeit shortened, summer. HC Pete Carroll called Dallas “a stud.”

“He has really picked things up really well…Right from the first few days he was with us, I know Russ and the coaches were really felt confident in him”, Carroll said.  “He runs routes really well and catches the ball beautifully, so that kind gave him a leg up on his start.”

Do I smell a… three-down back?!

Coming out, Dallas’ main strength was his versatility, with only 1 drop across 293 college touches. At “The U,” Dallas consistently showed well in protection, along with a developed route tree.

The Week 8 Matchup is NOT ripe. San Francisco is allowing the fewest FPs to RBs in 2020. Still, if Dallas siphons all the touches, including receiving and goalline work, he’d be a bonafide steal.

As such, keep tracking Hyde’s hamstring throughout Tuesday. If this situation looks bleak, pivot to DeeJay Dallas on the Waiver Wire while all your leaguemates splurge for a bum-legged Hyde.
