Stefon Diggs Finally Wakes Up for Fantasy Owners Despite Struggling Vikings’ Passing Game

Kirk Cousins has been a disaster so far, but Stefon Diggs finally showed a pulse on Sunday.

The Vikings have invested heavily in the core of their offense in recent years, locking down Kirk Cousins, Adam Thielen, and Stefon Diggs long-term with a good chunk of salary committed to the trio. The Vikings have managed to go .500 through 4 weeks, but that’s been primarily due to a top-10 defense and rushing for over 150 yards per game. Minnesota is at the bottom of the league in virtually every passing category, and it has shown in the fantasy outputs of their offensive stars. Entering Week 4, Diggs was averaging under 7 PPR points per game and had just 6 receptions on the season. He more than doubled that total on Sunday in Chicago with 7 catches on 7 targets for 108 yards, but with the offense still struggling and the team’s inclination to rely on the run, Diggs’ recent showing doesn’t guarantee he’s returning to his old, productive self.

Both Diggs and Adam Thielen have expressed frustration with the play of Kirk Cousins, who was 27/36 for 233 yards, took 6 sacks, and lost a key fumble against the Bears. Cousins is currently fantasy’s QB25, and with the success that Dalvin Cook has had so far in 2019, the Vikings seem content only throwing when absolutely necessary. As a result, Diggs has just 19 targets through 4 weeks, which obviously limits his ceiling considerably no matter how efficiently he performs. Sunday was a promising sign moving forward for Diggs, but he still needs some help around him in Minnesota.

Minnesota’s next 3 games are vs. the Giants, Eagles, and Lions, who have allowed the 2nd, 4th, and 11th-most points respectively to opposing wideouts so far in 2019, so if Diggs is going to spin one solid performance into a legitimate turnaround, now would be the time.
