2017 All Over Again? Andrew Luck’s Calf Getting Worse, Colts Opener in Question

Andrew Luck's mystery calf injury has leaked into his ankle... which has potential devastating fantasy consequences.

Andrew Luck’s mystery calf injury has gotten worse and things aren’t looking great for the Colts’ quarterback. In a conference call with the media, GM Chris Ballard said that over the course of dealing with Luck’s calf issue, it slowly developed into a high ankle problem. Like most injuries involving Luck, the Colts don’t necessarily give great details. However, it seems like Ballard genuinely has no clue how the initial injury occurred or what the final diagnosis is right now. With the team focusing on rehab over surgery, they’re not counting out Luck just yet, but it’s still tough to be optimistic — which forced us to drop him down to our QB6 from our QB2.

Prior to this mysterious injury, Luck was sharpied in at our QB2. He was even talked about as our potential QB1 before the Tyreek Hill decision that kept Patrick Mahomes is our No. 1 guy.

Still, with the team finally adding legit playmakers on the perimeter in Devin Funchess and Parris Campebell to compliment TY Hilton, Luck has the best perimeter talent of his career. Throw in Marlon MackEric EbronJack Doyle and Nyheim Hines, the Colts offense drips in fantasy stardom. But once again, it’s based on Luck’s health to make this happen.

Overall, let’s hope Luck’s calf/ankle heals on its own and he leads this Colts’ potential juggernaut to fantasy dominance. If not, all this talent will be on the shoulders of Jacoby Brissett.
