Rookie WR Terry McLaurin Vying for Redskins Starting Job, Lands on Fantasy Penny Stock Map

Terry McLaurin has a chance to immediately compete for targets in this pathetic passing attack.

Entering his senior year at Ohio State, Terry McLaurin was not high on any draft experts’ lists as a top wideout prospect. He was a sensational special teamer who possessed legit vertical speed but wasn’t utilized as much more than just an occasional deep threat. After putting up better numbers with Dwayne Haskins, McLaurin stood out at the Senior Bowl as more than just a potential WR4 and a core special teamer. Since landing with Haskins in DC, he’s been making highlight after highlight — including this ankle-breaker on Josh Norman. Drafted to a perfect situation where the surrounding talent at his position is pathetic, McLaurin has a legitimate chance of landing at the top of the WR depth chart alongside Paul Richardson and Trey Quinn.

Although McLaurin did very well at the Senior Bowl, his NFL expectations were still pretty low. He’s really turned heads at ‘Skins camp and he’s even surprised his head coach, Jay Gruden.

“I didn’t know he was this good,” Gruden said. “He knows both outside positions, the special teams guys can’t get enough of him…I’m like hey, hold back on special teams. He has been actually one of our better players in camp.”

Utilizing his ever-developing route-tree and his 4.35 40-yd dash, he could be a bright spot in what should be the most underwhelming fantasy offense in the league. With Jordan Reed set to be hampered by something at some point, McLaurin will be competing with Paul Richardson and The Wolf’s favorite, Trey Quinn for targets in the offense. If Dwayne Haskins can take over the starting job, he’ll be targeting his former Buckeye teammate throughout the season.

McLaurin is our WR91, a big-brained +16 vs the ECR.
