Fantasy Football Stock Report: Bills WR Sammy Watkins sheds walking boot

Every morning we compile the most important fantasy football links of the day for you to stay up-to-date and ahead of your fantasy opponents… This is your number one place for beat writer blabber, injury news, transaction tracking, and fantasy analysis from the experts who taught us a thing or two.

Big news for the Bills’ top receiver as it appears he is progressing nicely from his foot injury. With the additional news that Tyrod Taylor has looked very good so far this year, it should bode well for Watkins in a year in which many expect him to take a big step forward.

“With McFadden out for two months after undergoing surgery on a fractured right elbow, Elliott got all the first-team reps Tuesday. It will remain that way barring injury.”

– Rodger Mallison, Star Telegram

While the odd elbow injury happened to McFadden, it’s far more significant for Ezekiel Elliot. Drafted No. 4 overall, everyone expected Elliot to seize the starting role. It was only a matter of if, not when. With this news, that time is now and much sooner than expected. Elliot will be the star in Jerry World and won’t be passing that torch back barring any injury setback. Elliot is a solidified first round lock, and this news only throws away the key.

“Jordan Reed is sitting out minicamp after suffering an ankle injury last week.”

– John Keim, ESPN (Redskins reporter)

It seems like just a minor injury, but Reed has had difficulty staying on the field in the past due to injuries. The tight end had a monster season last year and is looking to show he’s worth the No. 2 TE selection in fantasy drafts this year.

After news broke yesterday saying that Perriman partially tore his ACL, his season appeared to be in shambles once again. Now after having his knee scoped and injected with stem cells, it looks like Perriman will be ready to go for his regular season debut. The Ravens have long awaited his presence on the field as a potential threat for Joe Flacco to utilize.

Not strictly fantasy:

  • Karlos Williams is being held out of mini camp for being overweight. Hasn’t he read our Eddie Lacy article?
  • Reports say that Mark Sanchez and Trevor Siemian are neck and neck for the Broncos’ starting job. Bad look for The Sanchize
  • UMass Amherst product Tajae Sharpe has continued to take first team reps with the Tennessee Titans. Make us alum proud.
