Broncos TE Jeff Heuerman Leads Team in Targets to Kickoff the Post-Demaryius Era

Is there a Penny Stock tight end in Denver?

We all thought Emmanuel Sanders would be the clear Alpha Target Hog with Demaryius Thomas no longer in the picture. But it wasn’t Sanders who picked up the slack, it was the unknown tight end, Jeff Heuerman who put up an eye-opening 10-83-1 against the Texans. The former Buckeye is in his third season with the Broncos and has already eclipsed his career total in targets (35), with 40 during the first nine games of his 2018 campaign. What’s more surprising is that Heuerman actually leads the team in targets inside the 10-yard line with seven on the season.

Known as more of a blocker than a pass-catcher out of Ohio State, it might be time to put the tight end on your Penny Stock radar if he’s going to continue to get looks in this offense. Facing limited competition for targets in the red zone outside of Courtland Sutton, his touchdown upside could be high compared to the rest of the garbage at the tight end position.

Heumerman has an extremely juicy schedule remaining, as he faces the Chargers (19th vs TEs), Steelers (2nd), Bengals (3rd), 49ers (17th), Browns (14th) and Raiders (8th). If you don’t own one of the top tier tight ends, he carries pretty good streaming potential for the stretch run.
