2026 Fantasy Baseball Buy Low, Sell High (Week 12): Target Corey Seager; Trade Away Oneil Cruz, Hunter Goodman

fantasy baseball week 12 buy low sell high

Welcome to our weekly 2026 Fantasy Baseball Buy Low, Sell High column. We will help you identify the top 2026 fantasy baseball trades to make in any given week. We’re going to outline three buy-lows and three sell-highs for Fantasy Baseball Week 12.

The key here is that we’ve carefully selected these recommendations to make sure that they’re reasonable. I’m not going to suggest that you buy low on a superstar who is off to a slow start, because it’s highly unlikely your leaguemate will accept an offer like that. The same goes for sell-highs: they won’t be obvious regression candidates. But if I do, I’ll be sure to have a reasonable trade offer for you to send.

With that in mind, find out why I’m buying low on Corey Seager, Kazuma Okamoto, and Samuel Basallo, while selling high on Casey Schmitt, Oneil Cruz, and Hunter Goodman. Remember, buy lows *need* to come at discounts, while sell highs *must* get you more than you would have before the season.

WEEK 12 FANTASY BASEBALL BUY LOW TARGETS

Corey Seager (SS – TEX)

Corey Seager is currently slashing .185/.284/.363 with eight home runs in 194 plate appearances. His strikeout rate has skyrocketed from 19.6% to 27.3%.

It’s been an abysmal start to the season for Seager, but all that’s done is create a buying opportunity for us.

Seager has an extensive track record of strong production, with three 30+ homer seasons in the last four. The question has only been health, not talent.

Yes, the numbers look terrible right now, but Seager is still hitting the ball hard (15.4% barrel rate). Buy now before he gets hot.

Kazuma Okamoto (1B, 3B – TOR)

Kazuma Okamoto is slashing .232/.311/.427 with 13 home runs in 270 plate appearances. Strikeouts have been a major issue, as highlighted by a 32.6 K%.

However, we have to give Okamoto some leeway as he’s still adapting to the major leagues. The encouraging signs are there, including an impressive 14.9% barrel rate.

There’s a good chance that he’s going to finish with .240 BA and 30+ home runs, so trade for him now while he’s still slumping.

Samuel Basallo (C – BAL)

Samuel Basallo is currently slashing .263/.327/.475 with nine home runs in 199 plate appearances. This is a rock-solid line, but he’s not setting the world on fire, so you can still trade for him.

This is an elite prospect who is finding his groove right now. Just look at these numbers:

The only issue has been that he’s been banged up, but if he can stay on the field, you’re going to see a huge second half.

I’m expecting some elite production in the second half, so hop on this trade now.

WEEK 12 FANTASY BASEBALL SELL HIGH PLAYERS

Casey Schmitt (1B, 2B, 3B, OF – SFG)

Casey Schmitt has been the most surprising hitter in baseball, establishing himself as this year’s Geraldo Perdomo. That is, a veteran infielder with versatility who explodes at the plate out of nowhere.

Schmitt is slashing .278/.309/.523 with 15 home runs in 256 plate appearances, smashing even the most optimistic projections out of the water.

While I definitely agree that this is a breakout season, that doesn’t mean we shouldn’t try to cash out.

After all, Schmitt has a very limited track record of production. Why not ship him away for Corey Seager and another piece, perhaps a pitcher like Sandy Alcantara? With how well Schmitt has done, it’s not crazy to get this kind of return.

Oneil Cruz (OF – PIT)

Oneil Cruz is currently slashing .264/.350/.472 with 14 home runs and 21 stolen bases in 283 plate appearances.

That kind of power and speed upside makes him so appealing in fantasy baseball.

However, there’s a good chance that we’re going to see a lengthy slump sooner rather than later.

Cruz is putting up a 34.6% strikeout rate, which isn’t going to cut it. This is a hitter who is more in the .230-.240 range than .260+, so try to see if you can cash out now.

UPDATE: Oneil Cruz is expected to miss a month with a left-hand fracture. Obviously, he’s no longer a sell-high. Your best move here is to just hold and hope he recoups some value when he returns, which is likely after the All-Star Break.

Hunter Goodman (C – COL)

Hunter Goodman is slashing .243/.319/.526 with 18 home runs in 257 plate appearances.

He continues to put up terrific power production for a catcher. However, there’s one major issue that I have with his profile.

It’s that he’s putting up a 33.1% strikeout rate, which is a significant increase from 26.3% last year.

There’s a chance that we see Goodman hit closer to .220 BA than his current .240+ batting average. That K% is too high right now. That kind of batting average drain can hurt, so I’d try to sell high now.

Summary: Week 12 Fantasy Baseball Buy Low Sell High

Although the season is young, savvy 2026 Fantasy Baseball managers are scouring the waiver wire and plotting the right trade strings to pull. Making the right 2026 Fantasy Baseball Buy Lows and Sell Highs this early can be a massive advantage. As such, buying low on Corey Seager, Kazuma Okamoto, and Samuel Basallo could land you some undervalued production before they heat up and hit their true ceilings. Meanwhile, Casey Schmitt, Oneil Cruz, and Hunter Goodman could all be peaking and make strong sell highs.
