Saints wideout Rashid Shaheed can help cure your fantasy Week 7 bye week and injury blues when he squares off against the Jaguars on Thursday Night Football.
Shaheed is coming off a very good week, catching two of six targets for 85 receiving yards and a touchdown against the Texans. His 12% target share and two receptions are the norm, which is a frightening floor in fantasy, but he does a lot with very little usage.
Entering Week 7, he gets a Jaguars secondary that’s susceptible to the big-play, giving up the fourth-most deep passing yards this season and running the fourth-highest zone coverage rate — both of which Shaheed has cooked this season. Receivers cut from the same cloth as Shaheed, like Gabe Davis (100 yards) and Tank Dell (145 yards), have gotten loose against this secondary.
However, with most deep threats, there’s always a very, very low floor. Shaheed has hit 16.5 and 17.3 half PPR points this season, but he ranked outside the top-50 receivers in the other four games.
Most importantly, Derek Carr looks healthy again after suffering a throwing shoulder injury in Week 3. Last week, he led the league with 518 air yards and unleashed deep balls all over the place, making Shaheed a top target alongside Chris Olave and Michael Thomas.
VERDICT
For those impacted by injuries or bye weeks at the position, Shaheed is a typical high-ceiling, low-floor receiving option. If you’re missing your WR1 and/or your WR2, then Shaheed’s upside is something you should chase — assuming you are desperate for points in your WR3 or Flex.
Shaheed checks in at WR46 on The Wolf’s Week 7 Rankings, above the likes of Jaxon Smith-Njigba (52% rostered) and Jahan Dotson (55%). Other high-upside options that we like this week and are still available in roughly half of leagues are Josh Downs (35%), Jameson Williams (50%), Rashee Rice (54%), and Michael Wilson (19%).
Oh, and if you are into making money, add Shaheed’s over 34.5 receiving yards to your Underdog Fantasy Pick ‘Em slip (promo code RSJ for a 100% first deposit match).
