Aaron Murray Benched During XFL Debut, Throws Wrench into Marc Trestman’s Offense

Aaron Murray was benched in favor of Quinton Flowers during his disgusting XFL debut.

Aaron Murray’s XFL debut was very forgettable for the former Georgia Bulldog. Working out of Marc Tresman’s offense, a scheme that has produced career numbers for a handful of quarterbacks, Murray went a pathetic 16-for-34 for 231 yards and two interceptions in a disgusting opener against the New York Guardians. Former USF QB Quinton Flowers took over for Murray in the second half and made some plays on the ground. However, neither could find the end zone during the rainy afternoon, despite four trips into the red zone.

We had big expectations for the Vipers, mostly because of the Trestman-Murray duo, but we might have to re-evaluate after this horrific offensive performance.

This could be the end of the road for Murray, who was also exposed in last year’s shortened AAF season, when he threw only three touchdowns to seven interceptions in eight weeks.

It seems like DraftKings believes Murray will get the Week 2 start with their $9,200 price tag on Murray, compared to their $7,500 tag for Flowers. But, the leash will be very short for the former Bulldog.

If they both suck again, let’s hope the Vipers can figure something out at quarterback before it’s too late.
