Week 8 Fantasy Football Rankings (2019, UPDATED)

Dominate Week 8 with The Wolf's Fantasy Football Rankings.

Week 8 has arrived, signaling the true midway point of the 2019 fantasy football season. Perhaps Dalvin “Purple Jesus” Cook has carried you to a 6-1 or even 7-0 start. Maybe Baker Mayfield or Joe Mixon has tanked your team to 2-5 or worse. Indeed, us David Johnson owners would love to huck a loogie onto Kliff Kingsbury‘s forehead. But this beautiful, nightmare-inducing game isn’t won in the past. Dwelling gets you nowhere, and now’s the time to kickoff the second half with a Win using our Week 8 Fantasy Football Rankings.

If you have any specific lineup questions, please let me know. While rankings are helpful, many factors are at play that can cause a change. For example, you may be an underdog, and starting a “boom-or-bust” player is more appealing for your lineup versus a surefire 7 or 8 points.

Week 8 Fantasy Football Updates

  • David Johnson (ankle, back) has been declared a game-time decision. With a brutal slate of games, let’s just hope the team rests him until he’s 100% so we don’t have anymore nightmare-inducing, week-costing 0.2 FP performances. Assuming he sits, Chase Edmonds would be my RB15 despite the significantly tougher road matchup this week vs. NO (30th most FPs to RBs). The volume is king here.
  • Alvin Kamara (ankle) and Drew Brees (thumb) are true game-time decisions. With a Week 9 bye looming, we tentatively expect them to sit. However, if either suits up, you’d have to feel comfortable rolling them out, since they’d be near-100%. Currently, Latavius Murray is my RB9, but he’d be off the starting radar if AK47 plays, who would slide right in around RB6-7. Brees would come in at QB9, right after Matthew Stafford.
  • Meanwhile, Jared Cook (ankle) will sit out a dreamboat matchup against NO. If struggling at TE, Josh Hill (1%, $3200 on DKings) is a worthy option.
  • On TEs, OJ Howard (hamstring) is missing a ripe matchup vs. TEN. Considering the Titans have surrendered a TD to TEs in every game but one, Cameron Brate (9% owned, $2700 DKings) is a fantastic flier at fantasy’s trickiest position.
  • Emmanuel Sanders will reportedly “play… a lot” this week. The matchup is tough against . CAR, but Sanders gets a QB and playcalling upgrade, creating some nice stretch run upside despite a murderous schedule. He’s my WR32 in his SF debut.
  • Davante Adams (toe) is doubtful, and he can’t be waited upon for a SNF contest. Geronimo Allison, Marquez Valdez-Scantling, and Allen Lazard are all streamable against a weak and banged up KC secondary.
  • If active, Keenan Allen (hamstring) would be on a limited snap count. Considering he hasn’t topped 50 yards and has been the WR34, WR59, WR60, and WR36 over his past four weeks, he should be on most benches. Austin Ekeler would be locked into even more receiving work, and jumps up to a Top-15 play.
  • Josh Jacobs (shoulder) is expected to play. Still, Jon Gruden made it clear he’s dealing with significant pain, and needed to be “shot up” before returning last Sunday. With his workload near 20+ touches, Jacobs should be tossed in wherever owned.
  • Jaylen Samuels (knee) is practicing in full, and makes for a nice “Saturday Stash” in case James Conner continues his weekly tradition of adding a new ailment.
  • With Delanie Walker (ankle) ruled out, athletic Jonnu Smith (10%, $2800 DKings)draws a gorgeous matchup against a TB defense yielding the 2nd most points to TEs. They particularly struggle at tackling, and Smith has the speed to house it on any given play. He’s a fantastic TE stream, and my TE9 for Week 8.
  • Tyrell Williams and Christian Kirk are game-time decisions heading into Sunday.
