Todd Gurley Unquestioned Goal Line Back, Preserves Fantasy RB1 Value

Todd Gurley might have lost a step, but he's finding the end zone on the regular again.

Todd Gurley has now rumbled into the end zone twice in consecutive weeks. This week it was once from eight yards out and one from the goal-line, so the idea of Malcolm Brown stealing goal-line work is hopefully in the rearview.

Though he only totaled 51 yards on 15 carries averaging just 3.4 yards per carry, what stuck out most to me about this game was Gurley’s usage and the fact that he was on the field for 93% of the Rams’ offensive snaps. After hovering between 64%-76% through the first four weeks of the season, the Rams kept Gurley on the field for 65 of their 70 offensive snaps against the Seahawks.

We all know what Gurley can do with a full workload, but the question is whether or not his health can support it. This week, Sean McVay “wanted to get him going” and he did. It appears he realized that to get someone going, you need to leave him out there for long enough to gain a rhythm.

The Rams are a potent offense and they’ll have many scoring opportunities. The story of this week was that Gurley was on the field the entire game, but his workload is likely to be in question every week, so it’s extremely important to his fantasy owners that he handles as much of the red zone work as possible.
