David Montgomery Vastly Improved Usage and Fantasy Output in Week 2

David Montgomery's fantasy outlook has fluctuated each week and we're cautiously optimistic about his Week 2 usage.

Chicago RB David Montgomery’s short fantasy career has gone something like this:

Preseason: This guy is going to be a steal, definitely draft him.

After Week 1: Drafting David Montgomery was a huge mistake.

After Week 2: I am encouraged by what I saw out of David Montgomery this week.  I’m so smart for drafting him when I did.

Montgomery rebounded from an abysmal week 1 that saw him touch the ball only 7 times and get squeezed out of the offense almost completely in favor of Tarik Cohen and (gasp) Mike Davis.  Although his usage during week 2 would not put him in the workhorse category (yet), he did get 19 touches and end up running for 62 yards and a score.  Perhaps more importantly, Montgomery led the trio of Bears RBs in offensive snaps–last week he was dead last.  This seems to be enough of a swing in Montgomery’s direction to at least be cautiously optimistic moving forward.

For right now, don’t count on Montgomery as more than a RB3/Flex option, but he still drips in upside and we wouldn’t be surprised at all to see his stock continue to rise as the season progresses.
