Miles Sanders Continues to Impress as Clear Eagles Fantasy RB to Own

It's clear Miles Sanders will eventually own this backfield... it's just a matter of when he will.

It’s pretty clear to us at the RSJ that the most talented and skilled running back on the Eagles roster is rookie Miles Sanders. The Penn State product has shown in the two preseason games he can be a fantasy asset who is likely to see his ADP keep creeping up with more solid performances. With the addition of Jordan Howard this offseason, it’s tough to envision a bell-cow role for Sanders at the moment considering the Eagles’ past usage of RB committees.

But when rave reviews of Sanders have been coming in, there’s a glimmer of hope he could work his way out of a committee.

Under Doug Pederson, the Eagles have been known for using a RBBC approach. In his 53 games, a running back has played over 60% of the snaps just three times, stat courtesy of NFL.com’s Graham Barfield. This concept makes sense when you have the likes of Jay Ajayi, Josh Adams and Wendell Smallwood as your running backs. When you have a guy that produced a similar stat line to Saquon Barkley in his final year at Penn State, when you invest a second-round pick in a running back, when you have a guy showing out in camp, sometimes philosophies change.

1. He’s getting more reps with the first-team offense.
2. He’s the best RB on the field and it’s not even close.
3. He’s drawing comparisons to LeSean McCoy.
4. He’s ‘unquestionably the most complete and explosive back’.

The Wolf’s grading system for his stock scores generally revolves around talent, opportunity and usage. Sanders is strong in the former and just needs the latter to tip in his favor which would push him into serious RB2 territory. He’s currently sitting around an ADP of 6.02, a few weeks after being closer to 8.01. He’s on the rise, and from the sound of it he’s only getting better.
