Philip Rivers Peppered Keenan Allen Back to Fantasy WR1 Status

Keenan Allen is back to his old ways.

Keenan Allen tacked on nine catches for 89 yards and a touchdown on 12 targets Sunday in L.A.’s Week 11 loss to the Broncos.

Allen came out firing on all cylinders, delivering three grabs for 38 yards on the Chargers’ opening drive. A week after ending a seven-game touchdown drought, Allen returned to the end zone Sunday by scoring on a four-yard strike from Philip Rivers with 2:39 left in the second quarter. He celebrated that score by putting on a championship belt provided by a fan, which predictably drew a flag for unsportsmanlike conduct. The 26-year-old saw plenty of Chris Harris on Sunday, but it didn’t matter as Allen delivered yet another big game. He’ll face another tough assignment next week against Cardinals stud Patrick Peterson, though Allen is still good enough to warrant WR2 consideration in all formats.

Keenan Allen had been slumping in the Chargers offense mid way through the year mostly because of a lack of targets. Philip Rivers had some new and other toys to work with for awhile, but he got back to his bread and butter in Allen to the point where he’s back in double digit targets. Allen is a volume receiver, and what made him such a high pick was the league leading number of balls being throw his way. He’s had a low number of touchdowns throughout the year, so it only made sense for him to be a positive regression candidate. That’s proven to be the case over the past two games.
