Mark Ingram Getting Phased Out of Saints Offense, Fantasy Stock on The Decline

Things aren't looking good for the Saints veteran.

Following a monster return from suspension, where Mark Ingram found the end zone twice during his Week 5 debut, he’s given his owners’ little to be excited about. Entering the much anticipated matchup with the Rams already on thin fantasy ice, Ingram did next to nothing during the Saints’ offensive explosion. The big back had only nine carries for 33 yards and only had one catch for three yards. With Alvin Kamara doing Alvin Kamara things, Ingram has basically been phased out of the offense as they’re going with more of the explosive three-down back — even with a 35-14 lead.

After being inconsistent over his last three games, it might be a tough sell if you’re looking to get out from under him. His rest of season schedule could be a selling point, since he faces the Bengals, Falcons, Cowboys and Buccaneers over the next five weeks. However, you might have to package him with an above-average wideout to get a more consistent RB2. If you’re unable to deal him and you’re forced to ride it out, one could point to the game script favoring Ingram if the Saints get up big over the next few weeks and they use him to milk the clock and finish drives on the goal line. Let’s hope this was more of a game flow and script thing than them actually phasing out the soon-to-be free agent.
