Travis Kelce Threatening for Gronk’s Throne in Chiefs’ Juggernaut Attack

We hate to admit that Travis Kelce is very good -- especially with Pat Mahomes.

Patrick Mahomes spread the ball around in this one, but he kept coming back to Kelce, who was seemingly open on every play. The tight end finished the first half with 93 yards including a great one-handed grab in the two-minute drill, and he could have had a bigger day if the Chiefs were forced to throw more in the second half. He will remain a top-two tight end option next week in Denver

Travis Kelce was already an elite fantasy TE with Alex Smith at the helm, but adding Patrick Mahomes into the fold is doing wonders for his stock at the moment. After his week one dud, Kelce has put up back to back double digit target games with over a hundred yards apiece in each and two touchdowns. Him and Tyreek Hill are the best options through the air, and all of Mahomes’ success has had Andy Reid dialing up the passing plays rendering Kareem Hunt and the running game into a pedestrian state.

What’s helped Kelce and the Chiefs offense as a whole is the defense’s struggle. As long as opponents are hanging around with Mahomes’ high powered offense, then he’s going to have to keep throwing the ball. Kelce leads the team in targets and receptions so far this year, and is looking like he could be a serious threat to the #1 overall tight end for 2018.
