Can Amari Cooper Revitalize his Fantasy Career With the Cowboys?

Jon Gruden swindled the Cowboys for a first round pick.

ESPN’s Josina Anderson scooped Adam Schefter when she broke the news that Amari Cooper would be heading to the Cowboys… in exchange for a FIRST ROUND PICK. Although it’s completely insane for the Cowboys to give up a first founder for the 24-year old inconsistent wideout, we aren’t here to argue that. The Cowboys finally found their Dez Bryant “replacement” in Cooper, and he has a chance to not only resurrect his career in ‘Big D,’ but his presence alone should help the anemic Cowboys’ passing offense. The Cowboys’ bye week couldn’t come at a better time, which allows Cooper to get in the building and put his nose in the playbook — rather than just throwing him into the fire as soon as possible.

We aren’t saying that Cooper is going to come in and be an Alpha-WR1 right away, but getting him out of the dark cloud that is Jon Gruden should at least give his fantasy owners’ some hope and optimism for the rest of the season. Not for nothing, just his presence alone should give Ezekiel Elliott some air to breathe out of the backfield. With an actual proven NFL wideout on the perimeter, Zeke should face thinner boxes.

If the former ‘Bama stud can develop a rapport with Dak Prescott, he has a very, very favorable schedule for the remainder of the season. After this week’s bye, the Cowboys have a whole bunch of green secondaries, highlighted by the Eagles (X2), Falcons, Saints, Colts and Tampa. Let’s hope Cooper finally figures it out in Dallas, because he has a legitimate chance to make noise during the fantasy playoffs.
