Week 5 Fantasy Football Rankings (2018)

Use our positional rankings to guide you through a crucial Week 5.

The 1st Quarter of the 2018 Fantasy Football season has just wrapped up. Perhaps Alvin Kamara has deep-dicked your league, and you’re off to a 4-0 start. Maybe you’ve been hamstrung by Leonard Fournette, and are trying to climb out of the basement.

The good news? There’s still plenty of time, and no one is out of it, yet. Waiver Wire Hail Mary’s have yet to be unearthed. Current Busts could suddenly explode and rifle your team up the ladder.

The bad news? Bye Weeks are coming. As you can tell, the season is flying at a Tyreek Hill pace. And if you fall further down to 1-4 or *gasp* 0-5, the hole could soon grow too deep and 2018 will blur past you.

Thus, a win is as crucial as ever. Begin this crucial prep with my Week 5 Fantasy Football Rankings and the Week 5 Rankings Rundown. You can hear my thoughts through the rankings process, including who I’m higher and lower on, and more. I’ll also keep a running “Updates Log” of the news you need to know heading into Week 4.

Week 5 Updates

Sunday Updates:

  • Gio Bernard is officially OUT, but Joe Mixon (knee) is expected to be eased back in and not play a full complement of snaps. Considering the cakewalk matchup versus Miami, he should still be in lineups, as 10-15 touches will still likely yield a score and some yardage. But he’s no longer the shoo-in RB1 we thought. Mark Walton (under 10% owned) could be streamed in desperate situations. For context – I’m likely benching LeSean McCoy for him.

  • Dalvin Cook is OUT for the week — likely for the best in a tough matchup. This will allow him to rest up for a dreamboat matchup versus Arizona next week (most generous team to RBs), making him a worthy Buy Low target right now if his owner is desperate for a win. Latavius Murray should see volume, but he’s failed to do much, and should be considered no more than a FLEX play.

  • Lamar Miller isn’t expected to play, which makes Alfred Blue (4% owned) a volume-based streamer. He’s over 94% available, and should see a solid amount of carries with no competition. I like him more than the aforementioned Murray for streaming purposes.

  • Geronimo Allison hasn’t practiced all week, and had a random hamstring pop up. He seems extremely doubtful. Davante Adams is going to be showered in looks, and Ty Montgomery (19% owned) is an even more intriguing streamer for RB-needy teams.

  • ESPN’s Josina Anderson reports Devonta Freeman (knee) will will be part of a three-back committee with Tevin Coleman and Ito Smith. This sounds like hell, and becomes a situation to avoid if possible.

Expected to play: Davante Adams, Will Fuller, Matt Breida (shoulder), Larry Fitzgerald, Marvin Jones and Sammy Watkins
