Darrell Henderson a Week 3 Waiver Option With Rams’ 3-Headed Fantasy Committee Forming

Sean McVay wasn't lying... his running back trio of Darrell Henderson, Malcolm Brown, and Cam Akers is the ultimate fantasy football committee.

Stop me if you’ve heard this before, but there’s likely to be a new Rams RB up towards the top of the Week 3 Waiver Wire this week. You have, only this time it’s Darrell Henderson basking in the glory. Once again, Cam Akers started in the backfield for the Rams only this time to leave for the remainder of the game with an injury after three carries.

Following Akers’ exit, Henderson and Malcolm Brown were both given a fairly even split. Week 2’s Waiver Hero finished the game with 37 snaps, compared to Henderson’s 29. However, Henderson’s production highly outweighed Brown’s against the Eagles. Henderson racked up 81 yards and a score on 12 carries, while also adding 40 receiving yards on two catches. On the other hand, Brown only totaled 47 yards on the ground on 11 carries.

The Rams were pretty much in control of the entire game against the Eagles, and once again, McVay decided to run with the hot hand which happened to be Henderson this week.

We all knew Brown had a higher floor in terms of fantasy value for this backfield, but his upside can be capped due to the fact that he’s been a long-time plodder and goal-line vulture. Henderson at least has somewhat of a higher ceiling due to his skill set and the fact the team used a third-round pick on him last season. His floor is dangerously lower though, based on his NFL resume that is pretty blank thus far.

Like Brown, Henderson offers fantasy upside in the Rams offense and should find himself near the top of the Week 3 Waiver Wire. The problem surrounding Henderson, similar to Brown, is the talented Akers looming over their respective shoulders. As soon as the rookie is fully healthy and up to NFL speed, you can see Akers taking over. In the meantime though, he’s going to ride the hot hand, and Henderson looked like a far better back leading into their Week 3 matchup against the Bills.

The Wolf seems equally confused as the rest of us, ranking Akers his RB33, Henderson his RB37, and Browns his RB38 on his Rest of Season Rankings.
