Aaron Jones Thrust Right Back into Fantasy Nightmare in Jamaal Williams Return

The Aaron Jones roller coaster continued in the worst way on Monday Night Football.

It seems like only a little over a week ago that I was saying to myself, “as long as Aaron Jones is held at least somewhat in check, I still have a chance to win this game,” as I paced back and forth in my basement.  Four touchdowns and plenty of yards later, I was in shambles and Aaron Jones was rising on everyone’s rankings, having FINALLY solidified his role as the Packers’ workhorse back–a role he richly deserved.

Fast forward one week to Monday Night Football vs. the Lions.  Jones coughs up a fumble in the first quarter, drops a touchdown pass on a play where the nearest defender may have been Matt Stafford’s wife, and all of a sudden the committee is back in effect.

Jamaal Williams was eager to pick up the shattered pieces of Jones’s backfield presence–he ran for 104 yards and added 4 catches for 32 and a score through the air while out snapping and out touching Jones over the course of the game.  For the record, Jones ended the day with 60 yards combined rushing and receiving.

While Jones should still be ranked over Williams on any ranking list (for now), right now this backfield has a really uncomfortable slightly more talented Tampa Bay feel to it.  It seems like Jones could still pay off big, but could leave you really frustrated every other week, too.  You probably should’ve sold him last week.
