Don’t blink or it’ll be too late!
James Cook was slicing and dicing through the Patriots defense on Thursday and I’m pretty sure Cook’s feet of flames lit part of the field on fire.
Cook made the most of his season-high 43% snap share, toting the rock 14 times for 64 yards and adding six catches for 41 yards. 105 yards from scrimmage with some pass-catching stat-stuffing juice screams league-winning upside.
Devin Singletary isn’t going anywhere and has been a valuable stabilizing force for the Bills, but he lacks the play-breaking speed and cutting ability that runs so heavily in the Cook brothers’ veins.
While not quite the physical specimen Dalvin Cook is, James offers a very similar skillset.
OPPORTUNITY
Against the Patriots, Cook saw four red-zone rush attempts. Cook also out-touched Singletary 20-13 and more than doubled Singletary’s yardage output.
Singletary still got the touchdown and should continue to be a lingering thorn in Cook’s side. Still, a back who produced 16.5 PPR fantasy points without a trip to paydirt against a top-seven DVOA rush defense screams league-winning upside.
With an exploitable fantasy schedule lingering (Jets, Dolphins, Bears) Cook will have plenty of opportunities to take over as the lead back and deliver the fantasy goods!
Cook sits at RB30 on The Wolf’s Week 14 Rankings and RB38 on his Rest of Season Rankings.
