Rashaad Penny Fantasy Outlook Continues to Grow As We Enter The Fantasy Playoffs

Should you trust Rashaad Penny in the fantasy playoffs?

Rashaad Penny was a workhorse running back coming out of San Diego State in 2018. Penny finished his senior season with 2,248 yards rushing with an absurd 7.8 yards per carry and dripped in potential when he went 27th overall to the Seahawks. Since then, Penny has failed due to injuries, overcrowded backfields, and a dash of incompetence from Pete Carroll.

But in Week 14, Rashaad Penny showed Penny stockholders why he was so highly touted coming out of college. The fourth-year back ran for 137 yards and scored two touchdowns in the Seahawks win over the lowly Texans. It was Penny’s third 100 yard game of his career and the first since he tore his ACL in 2019.

Penny has always been a big-play running back, and although he’s been in and out of the lineup throughout his four years, he has a career average of 5.1 yards per carry. Although the Seahawks are still left with a hodgepodge of characters in its backfield, Penny has made it clear this past weekend that he’s the running back to roster out of that backfield.

“I think he deserves a shot to show that, to start it out. We’ll still rotate to keep you guys fresh, but yeah, we’re gonna give him a shot again to come right on back and see if we can keep going” said Carroll.

Penny has seen an uptick in snap percentages over his past three games. He went from 14 percent in Week 11 to 56 percent in Week 14. Let’s all hope Carroll sees what we’ve seen and continues to feed him carries during this pivotal playoff run.

Penny’s playoff schedule isn’t a beautiful one, with next week’s matchup against the Rams, a Week 16 matchup against the Bears, but if you’re lucky enough to survive those two mediocre matchups you’re blessed by the gods with a cakewalk matchup against the Lions in championship weekend.

With the absurd amount of covid cases over the last two days, Penny should be your No. 1 priority coming into the Week 15 Waiver Wire tonight. And the Wolf agrees. The Wolf has Penny locked in at number 22 in his Rest of Season Rankings.
