NFL Week 5 DFS: Rams vs Seahawks DraftKings TNF Showdown Picks, Strategy

We're going heavy on the running backs in the Week 5 Showdown slate.

Before we hop into this NFL Week 5 DraftKings TNF Showdown breakdown my name is Rich Xenos (rxendaddy on DraftKings) and I’ve been playing DFS since 2018. I’ve been a big fan of RSJ since the jump and I am excited to contribute on the DraftKings Showdown slates.

We have a great Thursday night match-up tonight between two NFC West powerhouses, with the Rams visiting the Seahawks. The total is currently 54, so we can expect a lot of action. We also have some big injury news with Chris Carson being a game-time decision.

*This article is based on Chris Carson not playing. IF Carson plays, I would still suggest Alex Collins, but I would Captain Darrell Henderson.

SHOWDOWN STRATEGY

Based on Thursday’s reports, I’ve been building my lineups under the assumption Chris Carson ($6,600) will be out of the lineup, which makes Alex Collins a very enticing play at his $3,200 salary. It also makes Travis Homer ($1,000) and DeeJay Dallas ($600) intriguing plays, as well.

My favorite point-per-dollar plays at the moment are Collins and Darrell Henderson ($8,400). I plan to have a lot of both at the Captain spot. I also intend on making both quarterbacks a high priority. We all know what Cooper Kupp is capable of, but $12,400 is a steep price tag and I personally think Russell Wilson ($11,800) and Matthew Stafford ($11,400) are safer options at slightly lower salaries.

Even with the slow start to his season, I like Robert Woods at $7,600. Sean McVay mentioned wanting to get him more opportunities and at a discounted price, I plan to make him a priority. It’s tougher to predict the kickers, but with the total being so high and their very affordable price tags of $3,600 (Matt Gay) and $3,400 (Jason Myers) I prepare to have a lot of both. I will be fading both defenses tonight due to the high total.

If you’re making several lineups I would make sure to fill them in with Van Jefferson ($7,200) due to his playmaking ability and knack for the end zone. Penny Hart ($300) could be an interesting cheap option with Seattle’s thin receiver depth chart and Dee Eskridge being moved to the IR today.

I like Tyler Lockett ($9,600) and DK Metcalf ($10,200) but they’re both priced appropriately, similar to Kupp, so I won’t have as much of them but still love all three for GPPs since we know they’re all capable of going off at any time.

SUMMARY

My game plan for this TNF Showdown slate is to have both lead backs (Collins and Henderson) as top priorities and/or Captains. I will also have both Stafford and Wilson in my core. I’ll be filling in the two kickers where I can and making Woods a high priority as well.

Best of luck tonight and enjoy this treat of a TNF match-up!
