Welp. After cashing the easiest player prop ever on Thursday night last week, I proceeded to lay an egg in the afternoon games on Sunday.
Luckily, Matthew Stafford bent the Bears defense over a barrel and showed them the 50 states which cashed over 274.5 passing yards(-115) for us. So with NFL Week 1 in the books, I am sitting at 2-2(+.12 units) so far on the season.
We could be doing better. But you know what, I don’t think anyone in the world could have predicted that Aaron Rodgers would be the 35th best quarterback in a 32 team league last weekend. I would’ve made that pick ten times over. Quite frankly, I’ll probably hammer it again on Monday as Rodgers takes on the Lions. But that’s a post for a different day.
As for today, we’ve got the NEW YORK FOOTBALL GIANTS taking on the one and only, Washington Football Team.
GIANTS VS WASHINGTON FOOTBALL TEAM
I know what everyone is thinking. Thursday Night Football was awesome last week. Monday Night Football was amazing. Can we keep the train rolling when it comes to primetime games? Absolutely fucking not. This game is going to be a shit show. The Giants are maybe the most boring team in the world to watch. The Washington Football Team actually has some dudes, but they’re still not a juggernaut of a team. This game screams Punt, Punt, Punt, Field Goal, Punt, Missed Field Goal, and so on and so forth. There is nothing sexy about this game. And there is nothing sexy about Antonio Gibson over 67.5 rushing yards(-110), but it’s the pick to make.
Gibson didn’t have a ton of success against the Giants last season as he rushed for just 50 yards combined in his two games against Big Blue. However, in those two games, Gibson was only given nine and six rushing attempts. This past Sunday, Gibson was actually the sixth ranked running back in terms of usage across the entire NFL as he rushed for 90 yards on 20 attempts. For those less mathematically inclined, that’s 4.5 yards per carry. Prettty, pretty, preeeettttty good.
I will absolutely be hammering the over on this one tonight as Gibson will be heavily relied on by Taylor Heinicke and the Washington offense. It’s also worth noting that Gibson has averaged 115 yards per game in his career when playing an NFC East rival on a Thursday. Just saying!
