Is Robert Woods the New Rams WR1? Volume and Fantasy Value Continues to Surge

Jared Goff finally showed up on the road and peppered Robert Woods in the process.

With as much talent as the Rams possess on offense, the struggle this year for fantasy owners has been figuring out who’s going to be the focal point of the offense and when. In recent weeks, however, the answer has been Robert Woods. He missed Week 11 due to personal reasons, but in the last 3 games he’s played in, he’s led the Rams in receiving yards and surpassed 15 PPR points in each contest. And Sunday against Arizona was his best game of the year, turning a ridiculous 19 targets into 13 receptions for 172 yards. Guys like Cooper Kupp and Brandin Cooks are always going to be factors in LA, and Jared Goff’s play has been maddeningly inconsistent over the course of 2019, but all things considered, Robert Woods is the safest Rams WR play heading into the fantasy postseason.

Moving forward, Woods has some tough matchups for the fantasy playoffs — vs. Seattle, at Dallas, and at San Francisco, to be exact. While this should taper expectations for him a bit, it should be noted that Woods’ breakout last couple of games haven’t come against cupcake defenses. Arizona isn’t great defensively, but Woods’ strong performances against Baltimore and Pittsburgh should give owners some confidence that Woods can come through for them when they need him most.
